Holy shit, that kid is amazing. He's got a touch of the Maradona about him.

I've changed my mind, we must sign him, we simply must. Forget age, he's going to be the best player in the world one day.

Everytime I have seen him and I admit I haven't seen a great deal of him, he looks the best player on the pitch. To be that good at such a young age is frightening. I think he is the most special English player since Gascoigne. Let's hope he doesn't throw it all away.......and yeah, let's sign him!

There is a rumour we tried to sign him last summer after the U17 finals. We had an offer of 5mil turned down.

Moyes being the canny scot he is will not offer any bargains on Rooney, Everton only have to wait while his value continues to rise.

He's a good package; physically durable, great dribbler, with a strong shot, and the instincts of a natural goalscorer. He gets compared to Owen being a stocky, nippy type, but he reminds a lot of Shearer- strong and savvy with good movement.

Well one we do know he won't sign for the dippers. ;)

He's really got it all. Great balance, vision, skill, speed, close control, strength, imagination. And he's got 10 years until he's at his peak! What more can you say?

And we won't be seeing any more of Heskey either :)

I'd agree everton won't sell. He symbolises their 'revival' and will probably progress very well by staying at Everton where he's worshiped and closely supervised by Moyes. He may play like a man, but he only has the experience of a teenager, so its good he has a mentor in Moyes.

If he becomes a regular for Everton and established in the England team then he would be ready for a bigger club like United, and he's not far from achieving that.

There's no such player that is un-buyable if the price goes high enough. Everton would snap our hands off if a certain number was reached. Don't know what that number would be though.

There's all sorts of rumours flying around regarding strikers, but Rooney would be money very well spent. Think back to what Kenyon said about the Rio transfer:

"His age and nationality were big factors in our interest in him".

I wouldn't rule out a Ruud and Rooney partnership.

I tell you now he wont go imo!

This is quite similar to when Robbie Keane was at Wolves, he had the "Wonder Kid" look about him there and didnt disapoint at coventry either...

He was the best player on the pitch tonight, I've seen him before but tonight he was special, could it be that he's even better when he's playing with real top quality players?...

Peter Kenyon says that the days of the big money transfers are over but I wouldn't be surprised to see him go for more than Rio Ferdinand...

Everton knew what they were doing when they sold that diving bastard to Arsenal... :D ...

i have a similar feeling too

too early to tell, let alone injuries and stuff like that

Rooney will be in the Best/Maradona class. <hr></blockquote>

Rooney will never even be close to Maradona class. Just because he´s young and english the media boost him. I think he is a very good player but there are many fotballers as good as him, even the at the same age.

I think the reason he is in the team on international level is cos hes so well built for his age.

Look at Danial Nardiello in our reserves right now, good but still skin and bones...

got it in one. There are other kids who will score goals but Rooney has the build of a man already and can handle himself better at that level.
Reminds me of a cross between a young shearer and a young hughesy.
If he's half as good as them too, then he'll have a fine career.

think the media need to lay off a bit though, they seem to be pinning englands hopes on his young shoulders already

ohh for sith sake....yes, rooney had a brilliant game for england, but that's it!! so what if he's 17, he handled everything on the pitch very well but isn't that to be expected of an international player regardless of age? i think we need to see him play a whole lot more games for the national team, especially away from home and in time, against opposition who'd have sussed him out before we start making comparisons to Gazza, Maradona and sliced bread!!!!! christ, it was only one bloody game!!
and as for him playing for United, no bloody thanks!! not that he wouldn't do well, quite the contrary, but let him be in Everton, play for team he supports, isn't that what it's suppossed to be about anyway?! he's being brilliantly brought along by Moyes, so why disrupt a good thing, even if Fergie would do an equally good job of shielding the boy, but think about the ABU brigade and the bloody press if he signs for United....no, let the boy be, not for the jedi this one hmmmm.....making a mistake again with young England potential are we!! he had one brilliant game, it's over now, hope he does well in his next game, that's simply it, so lay off the boy!!

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> u jackass!!
the one thing perhaps that would do the boy some good actually, a little fear, maybe needs a good tackle in the shins from Keano...
no, not balance will this boy bring, much clouded is this boy's future, hmmmm...... ;)

Get back to Roswell Yoda, this kid has the Force with him and I sure as hell hope we sign him one day. ;)

If he doesn't become a jedi Unite(d) he'll turn to the dark side (Arsenal or something) one day.
