According to todays NOTW Manchester United have sensationally been offered Brazils world cup superstar Ronaldo and been told englands Darius Vassell is also up for grabs.
Ronaldos brazillian agent reynaldo pita contacted old trafford on thursday the same day the inter milan strikers other agent alexandre martins offered him to real madrid.
A top inter insider revealed "we know pita contacted united and were very angry."
A high ranking united source confirmed we were offered ronaldo his name set our pulses racing.
Reals insistence they DONT want ronaldo could leave the way clear for united.
However the old trafford club desparate to sign a forward are also eyeing villa star vassell after his contract talks with the midlands club broke down.
vassell has 2 years left on his current deal, wants £20,000 a week. Avilla insider said the two parties are miles apart there seems little chance of an early agreement

I like Ronaldo better. Although Vassel would not be a bad signing at all. :)

I agree vassel would be a good signing young lightening speed good finisher his talents are wasted at villa

I Defoe as well and rate him higher than Vassell.

If we got Vassel you can rule out the likes of Cisse, Ronaldo, Crespo etc etc.

I hope these Ronaldo rumours turn out true, they've been going for ages like the Rio one and theres definitely somethig going on in the background.....we can only hope I guess. We've saved the number 9 for someone, or else I'm sure Ole cudve had it...right? Must be someone Fergie see's as being ahead of Ole.

Just because rumours keep going on, and on, and on, and on... Doesn't mean there's anything at all to them.

As for the number 9, it's just a number. McClair held it for a couple of seasons despite only being backup and even then, sometimes in midfield than attack. We could remain without anyone at 9 just like we've had no one at 10 in 1995/6.

Manchester United’s chief executive Peter Kenyon, in a live interview on BBC Radio Five at around 9.30 BST, poured cold water on the story linking his club with Villa’s Darius Vassell.

It is likely that United’s alleged interest and so-called quotes from “Villa Park insiders” have been manufactured by Vassell’s agent as bargaining ploys. Naturally the club has to feign a tough negotiating stance to a certain extent, but Villa should act quickly to give the player the increase he wants and deserves.

did he deny ronaldo.????? <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

Don't know got it of an aston Villa site

he said it was all paper talk ... stated there has been no contact with inter milan... said he was in amsterdam and the rumors were ronaldo to real... he has just come back from the G14(or is it G16) meeting in madrid and again all the rumors there linked ronaldo to real... did not even say "obviousley we are happy to be linked with players of that quality" (Standard responce if clubs are in talks)... admited he found the story funny and when prompted about buying a 4th striker said if Man Utd are to spend 10-15 million they will need to sell.

not sure if i believe the last part but he was pretty adamant thet there has been no Man Utd/ inter contact

Of course it doesnt mean its true, but it shows that something is going on and that gives us hope. These stories arent being made up out of thin air.

As for the numbe 9, thats like saying number 7 is just a number. I guess it is, but they are numbers only given to special players. Fergie liked Mclair alot, wasnt he one of his first singings as soon as he joined? But hey - this isnt an important discussion.
