Ronaldinho

Real have their Ronaldo we are said to be getting our very Dwight Disco Yorke with a geri-curled perm RONALDINHO in a £25m move in January according to reports in Le Monde. Le Monde being a broadsheet french newspaper and indeed one of the most respected newspapers in the world, i.e. Daily Telegraph, Herald Tribune etc...

In saying that though none of the websites or sky sports news are carrying the story, so its very debatable (i.e. its legitmacy)

My french pal sent me an email, saying that apparently we were going to make a £25m shortly, meeting PSG asking price and have the deal tied up in the next two/three weeks, therefore come the lifting of the transfer window the player would instantly move to OT, which could allow for more settling in time and avoiding rushed and hastened discussions.

They even go on to say that SAF wanted him during the summer (confirmed in the english press) but given his no. 1 priority a CB and indeed the eventual outlay on Rio, was told by the board to sell before Ronaldinho could be bought, indeed the board thought the move for him would be funded by the sale of Veron, to either Barcelona, Juventus etc. But given the flat mkt. none of those expected bids arrived, leaving a huge hole in funds to sign the player. But that now SAF has gone back to the board and pleaded them to release the funds to sign the player, siting a defiency in attack to be able to really challenge on all fronts & competitions.
Furthermore this they say serves for the reason why SAF to date has not signed a fourth striker to date, rejecteing the chance to bring a host of talent, inc. Crespo, Morientes, Ronaldo, Luque, Tristan, Rivaldo, P.D.C. etc as he "only has eyes for Ronaldinho" (direct translation - those bleeding french)

Would apart from Totti be the perfect player in the world today for that link striker position, can provide that spark that the attack can need, will set up a shit load of goals for Ruud and is brazilian, who in general are sheer class!!!

We should commit to going after a player like Cisse or litte Ronny in the next 12 months.

Agreed. Ronaldinho would be my preferred choice. His creativity and ability to beat players with skill, power and speed would pull defences around and create space for RVN or Solskjaer. As we saw in the WC in setting up Rivaldo's goal against England, teams can't give him space to run at them.

Would be an awesome strike partner for either of the front two. He'd also give us that creative spark in breaking down stubborn defences.

mmmm dunno... but this lineup would look good...

NAH wheres super paul scholes?

Sounds like too much money for the plc to splash out after splashing out about £80-90 million the 2 last seasons.

Jean-Claude Elonie - I don't suppose that makes any difference to the validity of the story, but he does work for an independent french football journal in Marseille, so i suppose that might add weight to his claims.

It would a great signing in my opinion, he would give us something different up front, which is what we wanted in the signing of JSV, and in certain respects are still waiting for. Plus he is young and for the money that is being banded around, would be a more cost effective signing than Vieri, who we are being linked to @ the moment.

Plus having Queiroz around would aid in the settling down process of Ronaldinho, given the whole language factor to name one instance.

GO FOR IT FERGIE!!!

he's a very costly very talented young man. and not cup tied. question is would he come to sunny NW england?

Actually, when you add in how much we have gained from sales over the past couple of years, and the wages we've wiped off the bill, we have only spent about £50-60m in three seasons.

I think the lure of Manchester United could persuade him! Not many players turn us down, if and when we truly persue them! The signing of JSV will in my opinion, despite performance of the player, be a pivotal one for the clubs future transfer dealings, ie the signing of a major South America player to play in the PL.

And like i said perviously with Querioz and Veron there, he might be less apprhensive to join oh and the fact that we are the greatest club in the world might just help!!! :)

I doesnt matter, it's how much the biggest club in the world can afford. <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />

dont do this to me. please dont do this to me. :(
curly boy would be nice. who else can afford him? what about barce? be nice to have no competition for his signature. i've not ehard of SAF having a liking for him though - have i suffered a black out? oh those russians.

please tell me someone has a quote from SAF admitting he has such a liking for curly boy that "we even these days share a bath and Ronnie brushes his teeth while I take a dump so he does"

...that or i wont believe this story til those teeth are posing in the shirt. no sir. :(

We look set to persevere with a 4-5-1 formation. Ronaldinho would be ideal for this.

I cant see Real buying him as they already have a few generals in the middle....Zidane, Figo....unless Figo is sold next year.

Barca need defenders not strikers....
Lazio are poor..
Inter have bought and sold....(who knows where the italians are at the moment...)
Arsenal are poor...
Poo proabbaly want Cisse more

It will be great if it happens but I wont be holding my breathe....
I would say a definite bet is Escude to Utd in January

ok ok balloon-popper youre right, but we do need more wet look perms at OT for my onion. :( he'll end up going to spain like all the rest :(

well at the moment here, i feel man utd should try as much as possible to get another striker. if we(Man Utd) how do we cope when may be van or solskjar is out to injury.
getting ronaldiho is still not too much for me cos i believe it for the benefit of the club. at first i was thinking a player like crespo but since he has got to a new club i think the best optin is ronaldiho.
ibro ;)

he coped against the best english premiership players at the world cup.

Great!!! Based on your post I read the article in "Le Monde" and also called an insider friend in PSG. He told me that with the current situation of Canal +, they did not have a choice. In addition PSG are in trouble...Lost last night and finished with 8 on the pitch. You maybe right. I personally know someone higher up in the organisation and will try to flesh out some info. Will keep you guys posted.

Ronaldinho would be a fantastic addition to the squad. He is exactly the type of player that we need. I just remember him creating chance after chance in the World Cup, Ruud would love to play infront of him.

Personally I don't mind the geri curl, he looked a right ugly cnut in CA 99 with no or little hair.

Come on Ronnie !!!!!!!! <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

Unfortunately its not that simple. Because we are a Plc, we have a lot of share holders who are only interested in the bottom line. the way they will view it is that, if by the time he wants to buy Ronaldinhio we aren't in a position to win anything, then why should they let him spend another £20 million when the last £50 million has resulted in a drop in results and prize money.

Ronaldinho is a good player of course but few Brazil player ever success in England and I am worry about Ronadinho's physical aspect. 25m is too big a gamble for us. Gooner has proved that you don't need to throw out 20m+ for a player in order to get success. Somehow I worry that our transfer policy has got all wrong in these few seasons.

All will depend on our presense in the CL and our performances and potential at that date my friend. IF we get through the first phase December, we will be two games into the 2nd phase and there are financial benefits of getting into the QF. So that will come into the financial analysis of whether we spend or not.

Do you?

He is a good player, but we dont need a 'good' player, we have tonnes of them and look at how they perform.

We need a certain kind of player, a talisman, an inspiration. Think of our players as having writers block, no inspiration, even the best struggle to do what they are best at (Ruud) so bringing in Ronaldinho is no guarantee.

We need another Cantona-type influence. Erics legacy is finaly dying out IMO and we need to replace it.

Monsters Inc!

Looks excellent.

Unfortunately, eleven super-stars don't necessarily make a good team.

Let's be honest - the brilliance of Veron, Ruud, and Rio, have added quality to the squad, but done nothing for performances.

Might sound funny but I think we need a German in the side. The nature of the German game & race (as seen against Leverkusen) is authoratative, clinical and strict. German sides have always come up with great authority figures, and I agree it is not a "great" player we need, but more so a leader. We need order and somsone who is experienced and skilled enough to drag the very best out of each player whilst maintaining a shape in the side.

Or maybe I'm just barmy <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

Maybe our acting captain should have another new hair style - side parting and dye it black, and grow a little 'tache.

That might do it. ;)
