The Times says that we've entered into negotiations to sign Ronaldinho for a transfer fee possibly as low as £10 million.

I have some reservations about his lifestyle but there is no denying he is an unbelievable talent. The link with Nike makes it a little more credible too IMO.

And I see it mentioned Adriano in there! :)

Thought you'd like that! They mention him as an alternative target to Kewell/Duff to play on the left wing if Giggsy were to leave. Do you know if Adriano's primarily a winger or a forward?

A forward whenever I've seen him, with Mutu paying just off him. He is primarily left footed though, I think, but definitely not a left winger.

Plenty of interesting speculation in that article.

I don't believe a player's link with a certain company makes a certain link more logical. If Fergie doesn't want him it doesn't matter what company he's at.

As for the article, they were nicely honest enough to admit Kenyon's words last week were about squad size rather than fees. Then they went to the old annoying root of doubts over Barthez's future as he's being vauge (quote 'I'M STAYING'. Not good enough I guess).

This is the second article I've read recently which seems to indicate that Bellion is a definite target. But if we bring in Bellion and Ronaldinho, that would leave us with 5 strikers/forwards. Even assuming we start playing
with 2 up front, I can't see Fergie keeping 5 players for that position. The other question is if we do sign Ronaldinho, where would this leave Scholesy/Seba?

But like you say, interesting speculation about other players as well.

dont think PSG will let him go for £10m. at least £15 i'd say.

Interesting article. There were alot of details, yet few if any quotes. I think Little Ronny would be the best signing for us if we intend to continue with a 4-4-1-1 (otherwise Cisse would be a better option imo).

Also, I think the Adriano links are BS. Can't see us going that route when we have two proven Prem players we can choose from, as well as the likes of D'Allesandro (whos ripe for the pickin), and Quaresma.

Why not both :D
Ronaldinhno in a 4-4-1-1
Cisse in a 4-4-2
probably unrealistic though; looks more like lil' Ronnie then, along with a LW.

I'm losing hope of signing him. There's been very little movement so far and this is the first article mentioning us and Ronaldinho in months, and the first thing that hits you is the absence of quotes. The Times isnt a bullshit paper, but I really dont think we'll be signing him, parly down to his party boy nature.

4-4-1-1 works...and it works with scholes and ruud.

im sure ronaldinho nd ruud would work too.

but you know what...we're weak when ruud isnt there...no ruud = man utd become toothless little kittens.

forlan and ole in a 4-4-2 arent even much of a threat on a world class level...we NEED a frontman who can play with r without ruud and still make us a big threat. Cisse would be good...but there are many options i.e. Shevchenko, Defoe, nihat etc...(Bellion for the reserves only.)

Actually he showed us that he plays at his best as an attacking midfielder not a forward.

Eh? He played in the same position as he has done most of the season as a link-up.

From french sport newspaper "L'équipe", PSG & Man Utd heads are in discussion about Ronnie and they told about 25M€ (16-17M£) for transfert fee.

The Times had a great article yesterday. The basic premise was that Sir Alex is extrememly loyal to his players but he expects high standards in return and wont tollerate another trophyless campaign.

They talked about recouping 50m for Becks and Giggsy, and the scope that would give us re the wage strucure. When you include May and Blanc's wages and a couple of mill for Chadwick it gives him a massive base for restructing the squad and bringing in some of the hunger that he's hinted has been missing.

Duff, Ronaldinho, Belion and Escude all being potential targets (plus a Finnish defender who SAF has been keen on for a few years now).

Exciting times claimed by the Times
:D

Excellent ! That sounds good. I guess from here on in to the summer we will be inundated with rumours about transfers etc

I would balance that against "not selling your best players", really. I think what both Giggs and Beckham need is competition, not replacement. Any new signings over the summer will probably be geared towards achieving that.

So bring on Ronaldinho, Kewell, Duff and Adriano, but let Becks and Giggsy stay to fight it out.

More on the Ronaldinho rumours.

On Talksport tonight, their French football expert says his sources in France indicate that Ronaldinho is heading to United. He also says it'll be for a cut-price deal at around £10 million. This is because 1) Ronaldinho wants to leave 2) PSG has some financial problems and needs to unload players/cut their wage bill.

Anything on Adriano? ;) </strong><hr></blockquote>

Sorry, no. There's 50 minutes left to the show though! :)

do they have lots of talk on transfer rumours? I used to listen to Talksport but haven't for a couple of years now.

Monday night from 7 to 10 is the best time to listen. They have a show devoted exclusively to European football with experts on Spanish/Italian/French football.

They also have a lot of transfer rumours, maybe not as much as before the transfer windows came into being but still enough to keep the show interesting!

I'll try to remember that next week. Any other rumours of note, not necessarily to do with United?

Adriano's just gotten a mention. In their rumour section, someone's just e-mailed a question about whether Adriano will be going back to Inter-Milan.
The Italian expert says it'll depend on Hector Cuper's future, among other things. (I got the impression he hasn't heard much about the Adriano to United rumour.)

Obviouisly it must be a done deal and everyone has been told to keep quiet about it. :)

Nothing terribly exciting. The Ronaldinho rumour was the best of the bunch.

Or the next big flop.

I'm glad that Moyes and Everton are being careful with him, but I do not think they will resist the temptation to play him too much too young.

SAF is doing a great job with O'Shea, keeping him back, because it's true, he's not quite old enough yet. Just keeps feeding him the experience.

Burnout is a serious danger with players so young as Rooney. It has happened to Owen and Gerrard IMO.

I think ronaldinho will come. he is alot better then forlan. i can imagine him up with rvn scoring 100s of goalz.

i think this comes as a reason even before money as to why we won't get him. ferguson just doesn't seem to tolerate certain attitudes.

do you have reasons for thinking ronaldinho will come or do you just rate him as a player?

200, 300, 400?

Could Ronaldinho be like Yorke?? I hope not...I believe he will be an asset to our team and should be the most valuable player besides RVN.
