Ronaldinho / Benzema / Sneijder / Ballack / Ramos / Vidal / Pogba - when will we learn?

United don't buy world class players in their prime. We allow ourselves to be linked with them because it makes us look like big players when all we are doing is lubing up for other, actual genuine world class operating clubs make a move fearing they lose out.
Anytime we've actually signed a world class player at his peak it's been a disaster - Veron, Falcao and Di Maria. We buy players who are slightly less dear but still hugely expensive with the hope they will have a massive sell on value.

Did we not buy Di Maria only not long ago? It didn't work out but he was at the time of purchase a world class player in his prime.

We don't sign world class players apart from when we do. Just because you say they turned out to be a "disaster" doesn't mean they weren't signed.

Is Pogba a world class player in his prime, anyway?

Some people just can't seem to stand the silence.

Well if he isn't there's no logical reason for us to break the world transfer record for him.

None of those players in your title was a world transfer record. Neither is Pogba a player in his prime. Your title and OP are all over the place. Should have just went with you don't want the club to sign Pogba for a world transfer record which incidentally is already a poll in the Pogba thread.

Seriously????? It's not even midway in the pogba purchase and the guy has broken down

That's the point, why is this taking so long? Other top tier clubs just go out and sign players. It takes us all summer to try and sign our targets and then they end up going elsewhere making us look small time. I've never known United to actually snap up one of these all summer long transfer targets.

What does the other players have to do with Pogba who we certainly are buying?

Classic meltdown. Stay strong muppet, this one will happen.

Christ, the state of this thread.

How about we wait until September 1st until we start making threads like this.

Did we have Mourinho in charge when we were after Fabregas, Kroos etc?

You can't compare a Rustler's microwave burger to fillet steak at a 5 star restaurant.

Like Real Madrid last year?

Van Persie was a world class player at his peak when we signed him and he won us the league.

Better keep trying then. You need world class players.

This is such a subjective topic. Pogba is younger then Vidc and Evra were but then you would probably say they weren't 'world class'. Cause they weren't 'hyped' as much no. United have not typically gone for ready made 28-29 year olds. Ruud came when he was 25 but again, just because you might not have thought him world class at the time..you chat whatever you want.

Benzema, Ronaldinho, Ramos, Vidal, Sneijder - weren't world class when they were bought either. Ronaldinho wasn't fully loved in Paris. Ramos came from Saville - was Spanish...so would favor Spain. We can talk about this all day but you people make me sick. You are boring. You are negative and you lack imagination. And for a start, Ramos wouldn't have lasted in Manchester because no truly great defender get's himself sent off over 20 times....So personally I'd prefer Rio Ferdinand, Jaap Stam etc.

Zidane we could have got before Juventus as I think Eric recommended him but we didn't go for him. Mind you Scholes and Keane did well against Zidane and Davids in 99

Take a breather buddy. Sit this one out.

Because it's not like going to waitrose and taking an item off the shelf and paying it in the counter. There are lots of things involved.

Spurs sold Bale around Aug end. Same with Modric. If Spurs, who aren't even as big as juventus can hold on till the end of the summer to sell a midfielder for just 30m, then you can think what juve could do. Actually even James Rodriguez and Luis Suarez signed for their clubs, mid July even though no one else was after them and their World Cup ended in June.

Window hasn't even been open for three weeks yet. Which high profile top class player at the Euros has moved so far this window?
