United have refused to comment on the latest paper speculation linking Brazilian ace Ronaldinho with a £25million move to the club.
Reports claim Sir Alex Ferguson has made enquiries about the classy midfielder whose long-range free-kick sank England's hopes in the World Cup quarter-finals last week.
His club Paris Saint-Germain are said to be willing to part with the player for around £25million, but United are staying tight-lipped about the latest bout of speculation with Ferguson expected to strengthen his rearguard rather than adding to his midfield resources.
United are also refusing to comment on the speculation concerning Rio Ferdinand and appear to be putting the onus on the Leeds United and England player to make the first move which could spark off the deal.
Leeds boss David O'Leary has made it clear that he wants to keep Ferdinand at Elland Road but his comments have only added to the speculation and created a similar situation to the Dwight Yorke transfer four years ago.
At that time Aston Villa said they would not sell their star asset 'at any price' but eventually after Yorke asked for a transfer the £12.6million move went through.
