No, it doesn't get as far as Caligula, first series is all about Caesar and the first Civil War.
It has got an unprecedented amount of boning and gratuitous nudity for a mainstream TV show though, which is nice... and yes, a brother and sister incest scene

A lot of people have recommended this show to me, but I have yet to watch it. I'll put the first season on my Netflix queue.

I just bought the second series dvd today. Cant wait to get stuck into it, the first series was fecking superb.

Somehow Rome doesn't strike me, particularly because one needs to visit too many places casually

the first season of Rome was bloody brilliant, need to watch the 2nd season soon
The second season is even better, its a shame they've canned the series but it did cost HBO a bollock to produce

That used to happen a lot, yes, even 2000 years ago. So did bumming young boys (Catholic priests did not actually invent that particular barbarity).
What pisses me off is the show cost too much money to produce and they ended it after just 2 years.One of the best shows thats been put on for a while.
yeah it was top notch...the 'gladiator' scene at the end of the first season was fantastic "Thirteen!"

Anyways, you'll find that without Caesar, the second season is not as good as first. It gets better once they introduce the older Augustus. It's stil worth watching though

this is without doubt one of the best shows on tv in the last 12 months and Im a big fan of a lot of the american shows and watch most of them.

I'm gutted that they won't do another series. It's not that accurate historically, but who cares. Great show. Second season is even better than the first one.
