Romania's Constitutional Court annuls first round of presidential elections due to Russian interference and cyber attacks.

The government will have to set a new date for the presidential election and the entire electoral process will be restarted.

Finally, someone is fighting back, however, western countries really need to start regulating / moderating unchecked social media in a serious manner to prevent bad actors such as Russia / China from shaping public opinions using an army of bots, trolls, Musk, and paid off influencers.

Misinformation is not only a problem when it comes from external sources. Lies used to shape political opinions pose a threat to democracy, no matter where they originate.

In this case I don't think it was lies, weren't they directly trying to buy votes? Might be thinking of somewhere else.

That could very well be, but I was referring to the OP saying foreign actors are shaping opinions using social media. However, they don’t need to be foreign to be just as dangerous to democracy. Actors using lies and misinformation to sway public opinion to fit their political agenda is a threat that can come from within.

It's worth noting that Georgescu also declared zero campaign spending, which is obviously rubbish, considering his TikTok presence. That wasn't free.
