Brazilian left-back Roberto Carlos has admitted discussing a possible move to Manchester United with Alex Ferguson.

The Real Madrid star says United have been monitoring him for two years, and is aware that Ferguson still has an interest in bringing him to Old Trafford - a move he would not object to.

He said: "The interest from Manchester United is not new. They have been asking about me for the last two years. Ferguson spoke with me once and I am aware that I am a player that he likes.

"I don't know if they have been talking to each other, but if they want to sit down and negotiate I am not going to stop it.

"If I had to leave Real I would not join another Spanish team. United would be a good option, but I don't know if any of this speculation is serious."

The 29-year-old would fetch in the region of £15million

Not sure that there's a chance in hell of this happening, but would we want him if talks were to develop?
He's not as good defending as he's better known for his attacking skills.

Replace Thuram with the centerback ergie choose.
Silvestre have told that he want to play centerback and what could be better than this, especially with talented Brown and O'Shea on the bench. Im hoping and looking forward
 
I don't care what he is quoted as saying in the rags...Bobby Carlos wouldn't come to United. Sorin, Bridge etc would, but we have Silvestre so all of this is moot.

LOL If Bobby Carlos joins where would Michael Silvestre play? I'm not too confident of Michael playing CB.

According to Silvestre its his favorite postion and the reason that he may leave if he get any offers

Move Bartez to CB and buy a new goalie. Fab says he likes to play outfield, Fergie can try a completely new formation. If we get relegated we will still play City every year.

At 29, Real maybe looking for another, younger LB and Roberto Carlos may know this.....hence the dropping of the hints...

&lt; 10 million maybe but not 15...too much....and what about his huge pay package.

We should be looking at 23 to 25 year olds - tall, fast and strong.

Stick with talented youth who have big match temperament.....its what has maintained Utd's dominance.

Eh? With the possible exception of Maldini, he's the best left back in the world. Have you watched him play this season? He set up both of Madri'd CL Final goals.
