Film Robert Eggers's NOSFERATU

Looks interesting. The VVitch, by Eggers, is one of my all time favourite horror movies, and I’m getting similar vibes from this (especially with Ralph Ineson’s voice, which automatically elevates any film). The thing with Dracula is that it’s such a familiar story, and such a familiar character, it can lose its impact, but if anyone can restore its creepiness it’s Eggers.

Looks great.
Herzog's and Kinski's adaption is still my favourite, though the original still has those truly unsettling moments.

Also another Nosferatu film starring Defoe, though he's not playing the lead this time around.

Thanks for sharing. Looks interesting enough, been a long time I‘ve seen a decent vampire movie. Isn‘t there another one coming out soonish, saw a trailer on the ship and way more feral? Didn‘t hook me then, maybe even the same movie?

Definetely not the same movie.
Think the movie you're thinking of is The Last Voyage of Demeter (2023).

This has been a passion project of his for years, I'm 99.9% sure he'll do it justice. I share your opinion on The VVitch!

Which holiday?
Shark Week.

Yea, Demeter was the name. You saw it? Was it any good? Trailer did nothing for me.

I have a huge vampire movie collection from the original Nosferatu to Vampyr, Kinski, Martin (great movie), the Bela Lugosi ones or Christipher Lee and „Warhol‘s“ Dracular etc pp but the last…10(?) years there was next to nothing that made any impact - rather the contrary. Hope this one is good, cast seems fine so far.

Eggers is obviously a skilled director, but Nosferatu doesn't really interest me. Will still watch, and I would be happy to get positively surprised.

Re-watched Herzog's adaption last night. A excellent film with some breathtaking shots but Kinski really is a formidable on screen presence as Dracula.
Eggers and Skarsgard have alot to live up to.

it's alright. it's more of a visual experience than some lasting, impactful movie. I wasn't really impressed with the actors and I feel it's too long for what it's offering. now I can say I watched 3 or 4 movies with about the same plot, so it obviously won't feel fresh.

tbh, I even think I outgrew this type of movies in a way. they're neither romance neither horror although they're obviously both on paper. perhaps this is how it all ends without someone like Kinski, I don't know. in general, most vampire movies besides Blade rarely do anything for me. they mostly work like your ordinary drama that just happen to have a vampire in it, and are far from typical horror as they could be.

still, it's good that something like this comes out once in a while. I miss movies like Sleepy Hollow and Village, in particular that gothic/period setting that became a real rarity in this genre. if I had to rate it, 6/10.
