'tis a silly place
River Plate has offered us a chance to play them in 2003 close season as part of our trip to the states. We're already playing Ireland (should be a great game, wonder if Roy will play) and now it looks like we're set to play River. Perhaps this is part of a deal to bring D'Allesandro to OT a là Ince / Poborsky. ;)

Gazza, I should ban you for starting such a debate... ;)

What state is Ireland in then? (Don't answer that.....)

And does Argentina consider itself part of the USA?

Here's the link BTW:

If they do they play, I hope it's on the west coast...

it obviously an attempt to actually make the trip worth while as playing the yank teams would be to easy and embarrasssing for their sorry asses.
RIVER - Bring it on, and that D'allesandro(sp) kid.

It actually is. And a lot better for the board to go shopping as well.

On D'Alessandro, he will definitely be gone, River have pretty much everyone up for sale. They are broke and haven't done well in South American tournaments which would be the only good reason to keep them (the next Libertadores starting only in February!).

True. River are starting to look more ordinary by the day. Ortega left for Turkey earlier this year and it looks like D'Allesandro is on his way as well. Financial problems are getting worse in Argentina all the time. I wonder if Constanzo will leave River by 2003, looks a very good prospect imo.
