Rivaldo

With Louis Van Gaal coming as new Barca manager, he as said that it is time to get rid of the old faces and bring in new ones, whch could see the end of Rivaldo's carrer at the Nou Camp, if he was allowed to leave would you like to see come to United? I know I certainly would, as I have said numerous times he can change a game, where other people can't, I think if we could get him for around the £20 million mark I think it would be a good investment.

So where would you play him..Who would you sell and who would you drop??
It's not a position where we need to spend 20 million, money would be better spent elsewhere

Rivaldo - yes please.

Can play behind RVN - Fergie gets his 4-5-1.

We need two "decent" defenders - not breaking the bank for them - and with Blanc staying on we'll be cushtey!

Bartez
G Nev Blanc thuram Silvestre
Becks Keane Veron Giggs
Rivaldo
RVN
Subs:
New left back
Forlan
Butt
OGS
Scholes
Brown

Rivaldo is 30, and the fact that he's very injury prone indicates that he's NOT going to be one of those fit players that can carry on at the peak of their form till 33-35.

Wrong. Riva is 29 same age as Figo and Zidane and Pires

Slightly WRONG:

Rivaldo: 19.04.72
Pires: 29.01.73
Figo: 04.11.72
Zidane: 23.06.72

Not another Francenal, surely.
It's about time they speak english in the dressing room.
Ship out the bloody latin bastards.
I don't recall stars moaning about playing out of position in the past, or losing posession that easily without puting some effort regaining it.
Micky has improved, but we shouldn't keep him against his will. For once, I wouldn't open my mouth for a few weeks following the Arse disaster.
I bet Le King wasn't french, coz all others are there to be replaced.
Losing Barthez, Silvestre and Veron will only help if we put our hands on a decent keeper + Hofland + Duff + a 2/3 choice striker to partner RVN and OGS. Forlan could still prove to be OK, but I just can't trust those latin bastards to show the character OGS has.

Racially based abuse from Israel. Nice first post

Did you try to confirm a sterotype or was it accidental?

Ship off the Latin bastards...to a refugee camp. <img src="graemlins/annoyed.gif" border="0" alt="[Annoyed]" />

Never heard the Nevilles mention leaving the club if played out of position.
Never read about Beckham spotted by AS photographers in a Madrid airport on his way for discussions with Real in the middle of the season.
Can't recall Keane speaking of how he misses Nottingham, hoping to return one day.
Did Ole ever come to SAF with a couple of brothers/agents asking to double his salary?

It's OK to mix your football views from SKY with the politcal ones from the Beeb, but it's really missing the point.

What we need now is going back to the basics signing players who feel that by making it to OT they have reached the peak of their ambitions, and not those who come as United are the richest.

They don't have to be second rate players. Just listen to RVN- with all the respect to Rivaldo/Ronaldo etc they just don't have the same attitude.
Schmeichel, Johnsen, Stam, OGS(+Blomquist)=&gt;Treble
Barthez, Blanc, Silvestre, Veron=&gt;?????
Pure racism...

Yes, it is pure racism, because football has got much more to do than several of the players who were around in 1999 and those who are here now. How you can, for example, complain about Blanc's charachter is beyond me.

He's exactly the type of player who should have been grateful for being offered to wear the red shirt, but decided to switch to OT only when he became 4th choice at the San Siro.
My point, which perhaps wasn't explained well, was that I'd rather see in the side players who feel that playing for United is THE ultimate achievement of their careers.
the chance to get this from a home grown player, or a scandinavian is far greater than from those so called superstars from France/Italy/Argentina
etc.

BTW forgive me Hernan (Henning) Bergomi (Berg) for letting your name slip from the list. After all, it's this 2 quid CB who helped us through against Ronado, Simeone, Zamorano, Zanetti and co.
The pick of them are the stars of this close season speculation. Let's hope that United go back to basics rather than splash the millions.

"Exactly the type of player"? He's played for Barcelona and Inter and he'd have enough fine teams going for him if we weren't. Maybe not United's level (how many are there?), but certainly good sides. He had contracts whenever United wanted him and he wouldn't break them like the Anelka's of this world. A man of true quality, apart from his footballing ability.

Oh, and Berg cost 5 millions.

It's not that I don't agree with you - I like the home grown and low money buys as much as you do, but I won't treat a player any differently because he cost big money, and I won't treat a certain 'group of big money buys' as well.

I just don't think we have to panic.
Up front we're pretty solid, but when you don't defend well enough you need the drawing board and some discipline. You don't buy that for 20million.
Barthez is a world cup winner, but do you really think he won us more points/games than Sorenson would have done? He probably costs twice as much as the Dane.
I don't think paying 20million for a 30-years old French full back is better business than getting Finnan for a lager six-pack.
If silvestre is unhappy at left back, one should remind him he wasn't that convincing in the middle at Anfield- Bridge could fill that gap and you'd have some money left in the bank.

Wow, a guy from Israel complaining United is insufficiently Aryan. Middle-East politics is even more screwed up than I thought.

Right, it's not great business but this team needs a great center half more than it needs another good right back.
