Bloooooody hell, he died writing the last book!!! I kinda lost interest in the series after the 10,000th page or so but obsessively, I still want to know how it all ends. And now I will never ever find out :(

I can't believe it too. Totally shattered. Been reading the books for what feels like forever now. Condolences to his family and fans.

RIP Lord Dragon. You will be sorely missed. Thank you for all the wonderful memories and countless hours that I spent with your books. You gave us a world - rich and wonderful, that made ours seem dull by comparision.
Your stories will live on through us your fans as will your legend.

‘Duty is as heavy as a mountain, Death is as light as a feather.’

“May you shelter in the palm of the Creator’s hand. And may the Mother’s last embrace welcome you home.”

Yeah, we will. Robert Jordan made it clear a long time ago that he would prepare to have the work turned over to someone else (maybe plural) if he were to die. And now they've said that they will work towards getting the book out. I think Robert Jordan earlier mentioned something about "an army of writers".

I'm fecking gutted about him dying. Such a fighting spirit. And now the world will never get to enjoy any more of his art. He very much wanted to write another series called Infinity of Heaven, and I'd very much like to read it....

RIP James Oliver Rigney, jr a. k. a. Robert Jordan

Before his death, Jordan stated "I'm getting out notes, so if the worst actually happens, someone could finish A Memory of Light and have it end the way I want it to end." The decision to posthumously complete the book has been left to his wife Harriet and Tor Books president Tom Doherty.[1]

The characters of Perrin,Rand and especially Mat were original and brilliant.

A true master in the fantasy genre. He will be missed.

It seems he recorded tapes and gave notes for the past year or so to his wife and cousin. We most definitely will get 'A memory of light' sooner or later. Just hope that it does justice to Jordan's body of work.

It is so sad that he was taken away just before he could finish arguably one of the greatest fantasy epics of all time.

I dunno, I'm hoping it will be good but most post-humous releases tend to be absolute crap. Look at the mess John Betancourt made of Roger Zelazny's Chronicles Of Amber :\

But yeah, his male characters were brilliant - let's not forget Lan and Thom as well!

feckING HELL. It's my favorite series.

RIP Jordan. An unbelievable author.
