Fee is 29.1m

- 14.9m is payable now, a further 14.2m in 12 months
- The fee could rise to 33.1m, depending on Utd´s performance in the next 4 seasons

Smart move By Leeds..

Th 2 instalments guarentee the Creditors the money they need each year to remain happy.

Having to pay the fee in 2 installments probably enables to shell out some money on more players this summer.

The Ferdinand agreement was rushed through after Lee Bowyer's proposed £9m switch to Liverpool collapsed.

That means they are betting on our success. 4 million if we do well.

That means six points off them next season! and the season after, and the season after and the season after.

They are only in it for the money. Leeds scumbag pimps.

VERY beneficial for us, not very beneficial for them since it only gets rid of their debts but doesn't give them money to buy a replacement until next season.

IMO this means more transfers are in the pipeline.

We could do a Lazio on them or are we offsetting the Lazio debt expecting it to be paid in twelve months?

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> Class that. stam bought by the sheep to pay themselves.

Or are the Sun as usual full of shite?

The sun are always full of crap. And how did they get their hand son the fax? I know Rio is a pid up columnist wit the sun but that's stretching it.

so leeds still have no money to spend (if only 15M from the rio sale is due this year). after all, they did not make a profit this year, and the rio money will go straight towards financing the debt. so with bowyer, dacourt, and robbie keane all staying, the only money they'll be getting is from the sale of dubbery and perhaps gary kelly...yet, if you visit squareball, visions of ayala, stam, van bommel, mendieta, rivaldo, and joe cole dance in their heads! unless leeds are willing to increase their debt, where is the money coming from??? and it's not like they don't have to strengthen, as they barely managed to finish 5th last year, and all the teams above them will have strengthed significantly...

Yeah...I don't know either. They're eternal optomists on the squareball so very rarely face the truth.

However, there is some consternation as to how much Leeds get from the Rio sale as West Ham had no sell on clause and the original fee was 12 million up front and 6 million on apperances...so seeing as he only stayed 18 months we have no idea how those apperance monies are owed...or not..or whether they are carried over from the Man Utd transfer monies. Who knows..but it gets complicated.

As for Ridsdale saying there is money to spend..I don't know from where but I don't know that the Sun are the best source to believe. Other sources are saying it's the full fee upfront whihc seems to be the noises PR and TV are making.

Risdale would say that the fee is up front, because it's the only thing that can justify him pratting about for the last two days. If the papers are to be believed, the 29m was on the table at the back end of last week, so what was all the deadline stuff about. Imo, the two installment story is far more believable, and would suit Leeds as well as United. Leeds can now go to the bank, and borrow on the strength of next years money.

Both clubs are quoted on the Stock Exchange. It shouldn't be too difficult to find out how the fee is being paid.
