Rio smokescreen

After weeks of speculation it is clear that Rio is not for sale and The Rio affair was a smokescreen to get rid of DOL.....

So were does this leave us...still...no defenders, no new striker and/or no new winger and a forum full of guessing fans.
:(

Next week better be good.....signing 1 player is not good enough......I need 3 to 4 new signings to get over this depression.

What are you talking about ? we are signing Ferdinand.
The whole Rio fiasco was a smokescreen for us signing Les Ferdinand, you didnt know that ?

So this "smokescreen" involved Man United executives saying they were interested in signing RF. Very good of us to participate in Leeds' subtifuge.

Why does Ridsdale keep on saying "he's had no offers" for Rio then ? Who's lying, and why ? All very strange.

I agree with Due South that a lot has got to happen on the transfer front in the next few weeks. We need one central defender, a striker, a left sided midfielder to cover for Giggs and maybe a full back as well. If it doesn't happen then expect a continuation of last season's slide into mediocrity ( by United's standards that is)

No idea who is telling the truth. But why invent a story saying they asked about Ferdinand's availability and were told no. I assume Ridsdale means he has had no offers since then.

As for it being a Leeds smokescreen, they woulld have to invent rumours which they would then refute. United normally refute stories about players they are not interested in. In this case they have simply agreed that they are interest. Obviously not a smokescreen.

Who said the smokescreen had to be planned???

Opportunism.... ;)

I agree. Let's not get antsy about purchases just yet. Only if there are none on the horizon come Aug 1 should we then start panicking.

Saying that, it's still not too nice to see the "Out" column of Wallwork, VDG, Johnsen and Irwin against only the inclusion of a raw youngster in steele.

If no transfers happen (which I very much doubt) we will have the scenario of Brown and O'Shea is central defence (assuming Blanc leaves) and no cover for full-backs.

Perish the thought!
