This isn't a wind up. I just genuinely want your opinion on this.

Do you think he is out injured too much?

When he was at Leeds he was perpetually getting hamstring strains that would leave him out for 3-4 games and his run of that seems to be continuing at Man Utd.

Apart from the initial stop/start nature of his Man Utd career so far what do you think of him?

I was of the opinion before he went to Man Utd that he might struggle this season as he needs a strong defender beside him and he and Blanc don't seem to be clicking. But when Man Utd gets another defender beside him (O'Shea or a transfer target) I think he'll come good as he's a class player.

Do you think his attitude is right? Too many times I thought he shouldn't be captain at Leeds as an awaful lot of the time he didn't seem to play much of a leadership role but that may change as he's still pretty young.

Anyway, it's hard to tell but worth the 30 million? Or answers to come when he's been at Man Utd a season?

i think its a bit early too say. my impression is that he does seem to pick up injuries very easily, not just at United but also at Leeds. Is he a big girls blouse?
whether hes worth 30m or not is open to debate, my own impression is that long-term, 10 years down the line we'll all be talking about how great a centre half he's been for us, just like Gary Pallister was after a shaky start.

He does seem to have a history of injuries particularly at Leeds. I don't know what happened at West Ham. I assume these things are carefully investigated before deals are concluded.

Forget the City debacle - the whole defence was a shambles. He's a great player who's not even reached his peak. He should prove to be money well spent

Ive been starting to think that as well! Its not something i have noticed about him in the past but yet it seems to be a continous thing at OT, hopefully he will get over it soon.

Anyone notice that it was Paul Scholes fecking about with the ball then passing it to Ferdinand who got injured.

If he hadn't showboated then it mighened have happened.

And if Rio was replaced instead of Blanc it wouldn't have happened either.

Wait, if Rio wasn't playing at all in the almost meaningless match it would not have happeend either!

Thats just football. You never know what will happen so there's no point bringing up the 'what ifs'.

I think that the Rio thing should be given a better approach.

I mean that we have already witness the ruin of May, Pally and Johnsen due to injuries. While Brown and Rio have also shown signs of these niggling injuries

There is something wrong in our defensive training thats for sure

Its not the training, its the fact that they are working more now than they've had to in the last few years. ;)

Saw this this morning. Looks like the fee for Rio might actually end up being £26 million and not £30 million.

Hopefully, his run of injuries is just bad luck but I think Wes came back and played his first reserve match last night. With JOS and Wes, at least we'll have cover if Rio's out again for a few weeks.

He had a history of injuries at West Ham too apparently.

As for that Telegraph article, Leedschat has reprinted the startement from Kenyon at the time of purchase that the fee was 14.5 forst up, then 14.2 next July and a further 4 million in appearances.

The Telegraph journo can't add and obviously the 4 million extra probably are dependent on CL runs etc but 14+14 does not make 26.
