Credit where it’s due, looked incredible yesterday.

Is this a continuation of his level before promotion to the 1st team/squad?

Wasn’t he playing mostly LB last season? He was more an AM last night. I agree, he looked very impressive.

He was actually playing mostly as an inverted RB last season, with Ake typically covering LB as the more defensive FB. His introduction into the team is part of what set off the whole fiasco with Cancelo, because Joao did not like being benched by an 18 year old for that spell and then things unravelled. This was also around the same time that Pep was publicly claiming that Kyle Walker had limitations playing the RB role to desired effect. Eventually Pep unlocked John "Beckenbauer" Stones and Rico's playing time was more limited toward the business end of the season.

I think he will eventually end up in midfield and they have been deploying him there more this year. Very tidy player with good judgment and decision making who is always willing to show himself for a pass and keep recycling the ball. He's pretty good in tight spaces and under pressure and occasionally chips in with a goal or an assist. I think he will need to get stronger in possession so that he is not as easily nudged off the ball and so that he himself can eventually do more of the nudging defensively.

Very promising young player that does a lot of the little things right and keeps things simple. Pep loves the kid and the fact that he is trusting him in the middle at such a young age says a lot. Foden is only just getting a sustained run in the middle.

This showing up for a pass is what I noticed immediately, Most young player might want to avoid that pass especially when playing among older more accomplished players. This will be a major reason Pep loves him

He has some buking up to do but I guess that will come with age. He might end up being like Lahm or Kimmich. Full Back and midfielder

Nothing player. Far from the only problem with City's team this year but genuinely don't know what the point of him on the pitch is other than padding City's academy graduate appearance numbers. Has the attributes of a tidy footballer but does nothing on the pitch and is physically a non-factor. Given Pep's recent obsession with physical flooring and playing as many centre-backs as possible, I'm surprised he rates this techno-midget.

I don't think that's fair. I mean I dislike City as much as the next guy, but Lewis is 20 and playing for a team in crisis. You're not going to see his best version currently. Can't say I have seen plenty of him as I don't watch City regularly, but having played 70 senior games for a serial champion and five international caps for England at age 20 is not usually how nothing players start out their career. Player development is not linear, who knows where he is at age 23/24. He might end up at Villa or West Ham or be a key player for a CL winning side (not City as they will be in League One, hopefully). Who knows at this point.
