Richard Zednik...

:annoyed:That was horrible. Thank God he didn´t panic.

Oh man, scary stuff. You always worry something like this might happen. Just glad he's okay.

This is the worst on-field injury I've ever seen in a sporting event. He lived but nearly bled to death. Skate cut his throat. I've heard Donald Audette's injury a few years ago was quite nasty (skate cut his wrist open and severed tendons).

Here's a still shot from the Malarchuk injury.

Steve Moore's injury was far worse he is still fecked up, even though their wasn't as much blood, I can't wait until Bertuzzi gets what's coming to him, suspended 20 games for intentionally breaking someone's neck. What a sick feck

Well neck injuries in any sport are long term issues and can make a fan wince. But usually nowhere near the "gore content" that shocks people like the throat cut on Malarchuk who nearly died on the ice. I don't approve of the Bertuzzi hit but if you know anything about hockey you should be aware Moore knew retribution for his dirty hit on Naslund would be served. He chickened out when confronted by Bertuzzi who should waited another time instead of hitting him from behind as Moore scurried off. Personally, I felt the McSorley stick assualt on Brashear was worse than the Bertuzzi/Moore incident. Dirtiest hit I recall was Claude Lemieux on Kris Draper in the 96 playoffs.

No way was Lemieux's hit on Draper worse than Bertuzzi's on Moore. Lemieux was a check, where as Bertuzzi was little more than an assault. Also, I have been an Avs season ticket holder since their inception in 1995 so I was actually present for two of the hits in question. Moore's hit on Naslund was late but nothing really that bad in my opinion, not really worthy of a broken neck. As for the Draper hit no doubt it was dirty in a series and rivalry that got real dirty real quick, being present at the home games, it was clearly started in Game 3 when Slava Kozlov slammed Adam Foote's face into the glass, from that moment the series was full of dirty stuff, Lemieux hit was dirty but Draper did turn to the boards just as he was hit, also Lemieux's hit was not premeditated which is something that is a certainty about Bertuzzi's assault on Moore.

Moore broke his neck from everyone piling on Bertuzzi who was on top of him. Bertuzzi is a chicken-shit coward though. If you want to fight someone you look them right in the eye and drop the mitts. When I saw it two words came to mind "gutless" and "coward".

Malarchuk's injury was worse. Moore's broken neck was bad, but it's the post-concussion syndrome that's preventing him from playing, not the broken neck.

First off I said dirtiest hit, not worst incident.

Secondly, Lemieux's check on a defenseless player's who had his back to him, standing low and near the boards was an assault. That's no less an assault than punching a player from behind or swinging a stick. Lemieux knew a possible outcome was a severe injury just from the angle he took at Draper and how close he was to the partition that separates the benches. Lemieux is a dirty player and was clearly outlining his intention by singling out Draper. Lemieux's hit was clearly premeditated - Draper didn't just turn around at the last second as Lemieux was bearing down on him; Draper played the puck and had no clue Lemieux was coming from behind. Lemieux saw an opportunity to injure and took full advantage. FFS. Come on now.

The hit is around the 1 minute mark in the clip below. For shit and grins I posted the 1997 full braw (Lemieux "Turtle" and Roy closeline) too. Enjoy!
