Richard Eckersley is going on loan for the entire season to QPR.

This is a good move for him will build him up and give him a taste of what it's like to compete for an entire season. We have plenty of cover at RB with Brown fit again, Nev, Rafael, and O'Shea can play there too.

I rate Eckersley, I feel he'll go on to be a very good squad player for us in the seasons ahead.

Surprised Keane didnt go for him. One of our more natural defenders at reserve level. Tackles like Wes and is an all round good solid player. Id imagine he should defo start. QPR sold one of their better defenders already this summer. All the best to him.

Here's hoping his career doesn't follow the same path as Kieran Lee, another one of our youngsters who I had high hopes for.

On the plus side, if he establishes himself in the team I'll be heading down to Loftus Road for a few games next season, seeing as I can walk to it from my gaff. Nice wee ground and usually easy enough to get tickets.

will he be a starter there ?

I couldn't say for sure, because I don't know who QPR's current RB's are. They have Peter Ramage with them, ex-Newcastle, think he plays RB, or can.

I'd be pretty certain he'd be well able to break into the team, he's a very determined lad, well suited to the pace of the Championship.

He's miles better than Ramage - he'll play.

Aye same here..

This would be a good move for him.. He is surely a cut above the rest we have here minus Fabio/Rafael and the other 1st team players..

He's quality, he impresses me pretty much every time I watch him for the reserves, and I'll be very surprised if he doesn't end up a starter for a Premier League club.

Doubt he'll be able to make it here though - there are simply to many ahead of him.

Never been too sure about him. Good move for him, hope he gets regular football.

He can play left back just as competently so that shouldn't be an issue.

Yeah it is, went there for England U20s vs Italy U20s.

I hope he does really well and returns for good, may be wishful thinking but I can really see him becoming a quality squad member in the O'Shea mould.

Exactly. I'm still wondering why Kieran Lee was released so early.

but this would be a great move for Eckersley as long as he plays regularly. I think Ramage was QPR's RB last season, and Eckersley is easily better than him.

I slated this lad after his first game in the 1st team...but after this his performaces for the reserves and 1st team improved. He really impressed me with his desire.

I wish him all the best on loan, I think he has a potential to be a good squad player with us.

Not really too early, really... However, I think I read somewhere that he went to Oldham to sign a contract instead of going to Moscow with the rest of the team.

Lee was a bit too flexible for his own good. A decent youngster in about 50 different positions but never really excelled in a single one. But a very good attitude.

Defender Richard Eckersley stunned Manchester United yesterday by rejecting a new deal - and Premier League new boys Burnley are now set to sign him.

Right-back Eckersley (above) came through the ranks and was on the brink of a breakthrough at Old Trafford, but wants regular first-team football in the top flight.

The Salford-born 20year-old will talk with Owen Coyle's Burnley after rejecting a move to QPR.

Burnley's first home game of the season is against United.

Coyle has agreed a £600,000 deal with Hamilton for defender Brian Easton.

very disappointing if true, as I have high hopes for the lad.
