Ricardo Carvalho to QPR

On a whole new defence. Carvalho reunites with Bosingwa. This good be good for them, 2 Portuguese and a Brazilian in defence, at least they wont have any communication issues.

Carvalho is gone at this level, that's why Mourinho wants to get rid. He'll be an improvement over the dross they currently have though and will obviously take their wage bill through the roof. They'll still go down. Hughes is a huge muppet and a bit of an idiot when it comes to transfers.

Bosingwa, Carvalho, Park, Wright-Phillips, Fabio. Five.

I would also think he's seen his best days at the ripe age of 34, although Rio's soon 34 as well, but I haven't seen him play since his early Real days. His experience from Chelsea certainly should be an advantage anyway. Sounds like a pretty decent signing for QPR.

I would also guess Real's still paying a part of his wage bill since it's just a loan, or else I don't get why they don't sign him permanently, why would he have a future at Real if they ship him off on a loan to a lower table PL team.

It's a weird deal indeed. He's got a year left on his contract so will be a free agent after season ends anyway, and Real could contribute to his wages even if they released him - they did something like that with Raul, they paid €2m towards his earnings at Schalke and Schalke paid the rest because he didn't want to move if he didn't earn the same money.

He's clearly being shipped out early, and QPR are willing to take the chunk of his wage repsonsibility.

He may not be able to help winning titles anymore, but what a lot of experience they have just signed, the less experienced centre backs will learn so much from him.

Hughes has decided that Saturday's horror show calls for a restructured defence. Can't say I blame him!

feck sake, how many more sugardaddies does this league need?

This is guy annoys me - bad news after failing to get rid of Tevez or Suarez out of the league. Just need Robben and Mascherano back in the league and the cnut-quota will be bursting.

 Knew this would happen after the defensive horror show against Swansea. Starting to look like a good backline now for their level.

QPR is the most terrible team in the league, no question about it. Their policy is absolutely terrible, I hope they crash and burn. /rant

I still fancy them to go down. Any team that can give up the way they did in that last game has no team pride/spirit whatsoever.

Everyone calling people who go to Man City as mercanaries can look no further than QPR. Cant really blame them though, Hughes is now my favourite to get sacked. They have Norwich next which is winnable but then City, Chelsea and Tottenham in a row. Can't expect Carvalho to play every game either.

Forgot about SWP.

A lot of people did.
They really were woeful at the back last year. Will be an interesting sight to see them adjust.

Unfortunately Park's legs looked absolutely gone in that match as well. Poor guy - great player for us but imo finished at this level.

I think Park will be a terrible signing for them, he doesn't offer enough at this level anymore.

While there's a fundamental lack of mobility in a Carvalho - Dawson central defensive partnership, QPR should be playing sufficiently deep to bring out the best in the pair.

Mourinho didn't confirm a deal at today's Real Madrid press conference and said that with Dawson going there he wasn't sure if they would be interested in Carvalho as well.

Queens Park Rangers and Real Madrid have agreed a deal that could see ex-Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho move to Loftus Road on a season-long loan.

The 34-year-old former Portugal defender has yet to agree personal terms but talks will take place over the next 48 hours.

Loan dela eh? Why the feck didnt madrid just sell em? They hardly want him back and im sure he want the game time elsewhere. What ages is he now 36 or something? Will be very tough going for him with the pace of the league he aint waht he used to be.

He reads the game well - he won't be a superstar but he'll do a good job.

If I was a Liverpool-fan, I would be seriously worried. I can't help feeling that Liverpool now have fallen to the point where they aren't closing in on the top-teams, they are rather being caught by the mid-table teams

And I hope for their sake that Rodgers does a brilliant job - or they could be in for a horrible time.

I'm not sure why Hughes is getting mocked so much. He seems to have made some very good signings. Question is whether he can organize them into a unit.

His move to Spain was smart because I think he was starting to struggle with the pace of the Prem, so at a team that will be under a lot of pressure in many games he will likely be exposed further.
