Peter Forsberg has sent shockwaves through the NHL world after choosing to return to the Colorado Avalanche after taking off the season to this point because of injuries. I may be biased as a Avs fan and the fact that he is my favorite player ever, but he is the third best player I have ever seen behind #99 and #66. Playing in a defensive era he has the fourth best assist/game average behind only the aforementioned and Bobby Orr who is without doubt the best defender in the games history. Let's go Avs!

yeah, he was Peter the Great. Not sure he can make a whole lot of difference now. He may help secure the Avs a playoff place but it`s not like he makes them instant Stanley Cup contenders.

Let`s see wha trade deadline day throws up. Sundin is staying. Likely Tanguay too. Who is moving? Hossa? Jokinen? Campbell?

oooh...rumours are Hossa to the Habs and Richards to the Stars? Dunno, I kinda like the chemistry the Habs have but if they don`t give up too much i.e. Ryder + bits , then great.

Huet to the Capitals? WTF? Not confirmed but are they going with Price all the way?

Campbell to the Sharks.

That Sundin would rather be sippin daquaris in the Caribbean than play in the playoffs, and thats why he turned down a couple of trades

Avalanche enter playoffs spots, watch for a raise

that's the most twatish thing Cherry has ever said.

Forsberg third best player you've seen?

You must have missed Mark Messier and Jari Kurri during the Oiler dynasty.

One of my favourite players was that Finn who everyone hated. I can't recall his name just now.

don cherry says a lot of twatish things.
sundin didn't want to leave because he doesn't want to readjust to new city and he loves toronto too much. you have to take into fact that he has been here for 17 years so leaving a place after this long is too hard for someone and fair play to sundin, I couldn't give a flying feck what the leafs do (don't watch hockey much, only the stats and thats cause of the fantasy hockey this year) but the man has principles and he stood behind them. the leafs shouldn't have been a willy nilly in giving out no-trade clauses to other players so you reap what you sow.

edit: oh yeah, messier >>> forsberg

No doubt Kurri was great in the early 80s which was before my time, Messier was great too and offered a lot more than Kurri. Both players best years came alongside, who who, oh Gretzky when he was the playing the best of his career, Kurri need just have his stick on the ice and he was guranteed 50+ goals, Messier I hold in higher esteem as he a leader and warrior on the ice, but... Probably the fact that each player played far too long, probably 5 seasons in Messier's case has led me to lose some respect for him because he was such shit in Vancouever and NY(second time), as for Kurri he stayed in just to get his 600th goal which he did at a game I was at, great moment for him, but it doesnt take away from the fact that he was washedup and playing on Colorado's 4th line that year.

Forsberg was excellent last night!

He was very good. His legs had that old Foppa jump. He was especially good considering it was pretty much his first game in 10 months...

True, he did the same thing in 2001 when he missed the whole season, and came back and led the playoffs in socring by like 5 points even though the Avs didnt even make the Stanley Cup. The ovation he got was great and deserved, the highlight video they had for him last night before the game was incredible what a player.

Colorado lead their division, something they don't lose especially with a King in th elineup get better soon

Forsberg reminds me of a Cantona in certain ways, pure leader, pure set up man, pure finisher, pure strenght and power, yep sounds like both of them

Cantona had bags of charisma, something Forsberg lacks unlike Sundin.

A true legend nonetheless.
