In the good/bad old days when a player was injured or off form he played in the reserve team until he regained match fitness and the replacing player if on form kept his place.

Beckham for one is obviously not match fit to premier level and I wonder do people think hes too precious to play in the reserves and leave Ole on the right or should a marginally fit star always get first billing.
This of course also applies to Rio---O`shea,Butt/Keane----Neville,

Of course he should play in the reserves until he has shown his fitness, his willingness to get stuck in, and his form.

The thing with becks is that he hasn't been out for THAT long and the injury he had wasn't to his legs so there was nothing to ease him in for.

He is only lacking top level match practice which u can only get from 1st team football.

Keano has been out for ages so he needs to get his fitness level up, injury tested and match fitness up to reserve level. That is why he will play.

Even Andy Cole played in the reserves last year!
