Cup defence continues

United's defence of the Manchester Senior Cup continues on Monday evening with a trip to face Stockport County.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Warren Joyce's side travel to Hyde United's Ewen Fields for the 19:00 GMT kick-off. United will aim to bounce back after suffering a penalty shootout defeat in December's most recent group game against Bolton.

However, having won this season's opening two matches, against Bury and Oldham Athletic, the Reds are still well placed to defend the trophy for a third successive season.

Monday's match will be shown exclusively live on MUTV, with coverage beginning at 18:30 GMT. For supporters who wish to attend, entry can be gained at the turnstiles at a cost of £3 for adults and £1 for concessions.

6. Wootton
3. Gill
8. Possebon
4. Evans
10. Norwood
7. Stewart
9. Brandy

Good to see Eikrem back from injury, and Cathcart too. Not as many Academy players as expected.

I've been doing crap at keeping up with the reserves this season. How long has Possebon been back?

Odd that none of the names I mentioned (King, Pogba, Petrucci) started on Saturday, or made the squad for tonight. Injured? Rested for Thursday?

Pogba to join Scholes and Fletch in midfield, or King up top with Berbatov on Wednesday?

thought so too , maybe just as a precaution
think rafael/neville and evans will be on the bench with one of raf/nev starting

stockport nearly scored .. shouldve scored

Stockport come nearest to scoring from Wootton's sliced attempt at a clearance that Zieler does well to save, and then a goal line clearance.

Stockport working hard and United have got in good positions but been wasteful so far.

There's quite a few players who really need to be moving on at this level - Brandy, Hewson and Zieler in particular spring to mind, and Stewart and Ajose could both do with going out on loan too.

EDIT: Possibly a bit early for Stewart and Ajose to go on loan, but Evans and Norwood could certainly do with some first team football.

very similar to the performances of the first team and academy team at the weekend. poor passing lack of a good final ball.

Moffat was on loan as well wasn't he? Where was he and how did it go?

overload

get ball forward - pass to feet - push higher up - take more risks

i expect us to score a few now

Sorry guys, this is my fault. Whenever I remember to watch the reserves, they always turn unaccountably shite.
