Reserves Face United Challenge
By Mark Heys January 23 2008
Bolton Wanderers reserves are back ready and refreshed to play their first league game of the New Year when taking on local rivals Manchester United at the County Ground in Leyland this evening.
The winter shutdown in mid-December means that the second string are short of match practise leading up to this game with only a couple of behind closed doors friendlies to fall back on.
Earlier in the season opponents United where held to a 1-1 draw at the Victoria Stadium in Northwich with Bolton's Chris Basham putting the Trotters in front in the first half.
Bolton include a large number of players who where in FA Youth Cup action just a few weeks ago but the likes of Jaroslaw Fojut, Johann Smith, Mark Ellis and Leslie Thompson will not play.
Fojut is away on a training exercise with the senior team, Smith is in his native America and Ellis and Thompson are both out on loan at Blue Square Premier side Torquay United.
The Manchester United first team have been away in the Far East taking part in a testimonial for former Wolves striker Sami Al-Jaber but the Reds are still likely to bring a strong squad across to Lancashire.
BOLTON WANDERERS RESERVES: Adam Bogdan, James Sinclair, Scott Jamieson, Robert Sissons, David Gbermie, Mark Charlesworth, Nathan Wolfe, Chris Basham, Zoltan Harsanyi, Kevin Wolze, Michael Burns
SUBS FROM, Temitope Obadeyi, Przemyslaw Kazimierczak, Tom Brooks, Stuart McDonald, Matt Carlisle
