Reserve/Youth Forum Threads on Main Page

I always miss the reserve/youth games because I rarely think to check the reserve forum, and there's no list of all future fixtures to check, or match-day thread that pops up after the last game.

I would love it if the threads in the reserve/youth forum showed up on the main page, so I would stop missing them, I suspect many other posters would appreciate that as well. It would also encourage more discussion about the fringe players.

Just a suggestion, I realize I could be more diligent checking the reserve/youth forum.

It's a fair suggestion, but I think an unnecessary one. The main page looks good with the amount of forums it has, I don't think it needs to have the reserve one added, not when it has the activity it does. That might increase, but I don't think it would be worth the move, it's just not used enough to interfere with the current look.

Just to be clear, I don't mean showing the forum on "redcafe.net/forum.php" I mean having the bumped threads show on "redcafe.net".

Considering there are few reserve threads that are rarely used, I wouldn't think it would interfere with the 'look' of redcafe.net, that comment made me think you were talking about the the redcafe.net/forum page. I would think the main result would be that the reserve game day threads would show up on the 'master list' of bumped football threads, and there would be no need for two threads on players who move up from the reserves, like with Fryers.

At least that's my two sense. Lovely forum, keep up the good work!

I agree with gooDevil, and would like it if the threads from the reserve/youth forum show up on the front page. Would be especially useful for keeping up with when the matches are (match day threads for those matches appearing on the front page, like goo pointed out).

Or reserve matches could appear in the Matchday Forum. It's missing matches through not knowing they're on, even though visiting the Cafe regularly, that irks people.

Of course it's their own fault - the reserve forum is there if they want to open it.

Surely if you were actually that arsed about hearing what/how the reserves are doing you'd remember to click on the link to that part of the forum?

It's easy to add the Youth Forum to the Recent Threads module, but I'll ask Niall before making the change.

I feel like I'm the only one that uses the Recent Threads thing. I virtually never go into the actual forums.

I suggested this change a few years ago but most of the reserve/youth forum regulars were against it as the current system helps keep some of the spastics out. In retrospect I think that's a fair point, keep as is.

But surely if people are really interested in the youth team/reserves they'd go on the Reserve/Youth Forum?

Personally I'd vote to keep it as it is, it does help keep some of the more muppety posters out of those threads, and if you're interested in the reserves and youth teams, go on their forum.

I've added the recent youth/reserves topics to the main page. Let's see how it goes for a while...

We don't usually start youth/reserves matchday threads as early as it is for the first team matches, so maybe we should start such threads in United forum and move it to Reserves/Youth Forum after the game.

There's very little going on there, and what little takes place is mostly just fuelled by idiots, so I personally prefer to keep out of it.

I also don't understand the argument "if you're interested you'd keep up" at all. This is just another way to make it more convenient for people, and less likely to miss out on the matches.

For instance, I'm well aware that we're playing Chelsea in the FAYC on Friday, but I'd estimate it 50% likely that I won't get to watch it because I'll forget it. If a match thread appears on the front here on the Caf, that'll reduce the chances of me missing it as I often check in just to look at the most recent threads to see what's going on.
