Now there's a player I'd absolutely love us to sign.

I think it would be fair to say he's the best reader of the game in the world after our very own Blanc.

He is an amazing story really. He was only discovered in Denmark at the age of 28 and then he played for AB where he was fantastic for 3 seasons and almost brought them championship glory. He then moved to Panathinaikos where he's been superb in the last 3 years. He even won the Danish player of the year award in 2000 I think. He quite amazingly had his first international cap at the age of 28 but immediately after that he installed himself as the first name in defence for the Danish national team.

He is quite big (not huge, but certainly not small, 1.84ish) and is one of the coolest defenders under pressure that I've seen. He's a great tackler and his reading of the game is just sublime. His positional sense if just fantastic and he really calms the defence with his influence and laid-back attitude. He has Champions League experience, seems a nice enough bloke and I'd imagine he would settle in easily.

One catch. He's 32 now. Still I'd say he would be a real bargain. We signed Larry at 35 and we wanted to buy Di Canio at the same age so obviously Alex thinks that if he's good enough, he's young enough ;)

He would only cost 3-4 million quid as he's 32 and doesn't have much of a reputation.

Pair him up with someone like Thuram and watch us fly.

Good player, no doubt, and with Blanc leaving, some more experience in the back would be nice.

Agreed. If you'd heard Rene give interviews you'd perhaps understand his 'strange' career somewhat better. Incredibly humble and soft-spoken guy who never tries to claim credit for anything. Not a very career-furthering personality in this world of Kluiverts, Effenbergs, etc... Reminds me a lot of Ronny J in that respect.
One problem: I'm not entirely sure if he'd be comfortable with the rough and tumble of Riverside or Reebok on a blustery monday evening. You reckon?

Too old. We need peole who will give us at least 6 more years.

I've said that before, but when I posted it on here all I got was a 'feck off'

- Now... suddenly when Roy posts it, it's a whole different matter...!!

Anyway... René is a class-player that we're really happy about in Denmark... I know he's old and so, but with Blanc retiring at the end of the season, Henriksen could probably buy Fergie some time to settle in younger star-potentials to take over when René retires (though at that time, it'll probably be someone else's problem to have secured the defence!)

Eh, there've been only 3 replies, one against and two for, of which one of them was Danish so that doesn't really count......

haven't seen any 'feck off's though... </strong><hr></blockquote>

And that upsets you???

I would still like to know if Roy feels sure that Rene Henriksen would be suited to the physical pressure of the English game? He's not exactly dominant in the air and often he goes through a game without even getting his knees soiled... ;)

Think we have to buy Heskey, adapt him to a goalie, and let his big, fat arse close the gap between the posts... ;)

Nah! BTW I didn't mean to make a big fuss about this... I just pointed out the facts! This thread should be about Henriksen ffs!

- So... what do you think of him???

Dunno. Haven't seen much of him. He didn't impress med last night though, but I didn't see the whole match.....
