Had conversations with two different people for two different reasons today which has resulted in me starting this thread.
Email addresses and being locked out of your account
Sometimes people have been on here so long that after a period of time their email changes and they no longer have access to the email they signed up with - whether it be because that email address was a school email, old work email or the site has just gone out of business. Remember to check your email here and keep it updated on a regular basis. If you forget the password to your existing account, it sends the new password to the email address on your account, which is problematic if it is one not in use.
If you're in this situation, register a new account with the username similar to the account you've forgotten the password for (example: 17VdG for the account 17 Van der Gouw) and PM a member of staff some identifying information from the account you've forgotten the password for - such as any bit of information as to what the email address would have been and we will give you the password to the existing account. Once you're back in on the original account, let that same member of staff know and they will delete the newest account.
Signing up with real names
Sometimes people sign up with their real full name and end up being reluctant to post as they don't want everyone to know their name. If you are in this situation, PM a member of staff and we will change the username to one of your choosing if available.
