Transfer News: River Plate's Juan Jose Vea Murguia is heading for talks with Tottenham - News - MirrorFootball.co.uk

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has joined the chase for Argentina’s new superstar Juan Jose Vea Murguia.

The River Plate attacking midfielder, who plays in the same position and style as Lionel Messi, is heading for talks with Redknapp in the next few weeks - after deciding he wants to come to England.

Murguia, 18 in July, has refused to sign a deal with River Plate and been offered deals from clubs in both Spain and Italy. But his family prefer him to come to the Premier League.

The youngster is due to play in the South American under-17 championships this month and then come to London to sort out the deal. He can join permanently in the summer.

River Plate are furious with the player and his family for rejecting terms to stay with them. They only stand to make a small training fee compensation deal when he leaves.

Murguia comes from a Spanish background and Spurs will want to be sure he has Spanish citizenship before completing the transfer.

Anyone seen the lad play?

Yes, Iturbe. They pop up regular, they have replaced "New Kaka's" as the most popular species of young South American footballers.

How many players are going to be touted the 'next Messi'? We already have Iturbe.

I'm guessing Iturbe as he has a YouTube vid where as this kid isn't even on River Plate's wiki page.

Messi is the new Maradona. Therefore, the new Maradona's are now referred to as the new Messi's.

Why no young talent is labelled the next Bebe or Ali Dia?

For a minute I thought this thread was about Jamie Redknapp signing the real Messi for us when he finally steps into the breach

Newspapers should have to print retractions and apologies with the same column inches and prominence they give the initial report - this is beyond stupid.

No one believes what papers say - in fact nobody buys them any more.

I'm disappointed there were no caftards claiming he was the next big thing. There usually are, regardless of whether they've ever seen them play/the player even exists.
