Unfortunately we have received less than half the subscribers required to sustain the site in its current format. Unless there is a significant increase in subscribers over the next few days, the site will have to either, suffer severely in its quality, with reduced bandwith and no news service, or close altogether. We do however have one last chance.

Due to the administrative difficulties of refunding payments we are no longer requesting people to sign up, but to PLEDGE their INTENTION TO DO SO by genuine e-mail. This pledge needs to be received at redissue@hotmail.com no later than 5pm next Wednesday, the 22nd of May.

· If we receive enough pledges by the 22nd of May via genuine e-mail, then we will re-open for sign ups.
· Those who have pledged will then need to sign up by Friday 24th May.
· If not enough people meet their pledge to sign up then a decision will be taken to close down the site in its current format.

We are the largest independent fans’ web site in the country and believe that we offer the best United fans’ website available. However reality bites and unfortunately we have become victims of our own success, unable to afford the bandwidth that the site traffic consumes. Bandwidth and server provision has cost well in excess of four figures per month. For the technically minded we have consistently ‘burst’ in excess of 2mb bandwith. The option of switching to shared-bandwidth is not one we can take without the site locking up and becoming totally inaccessible. Aside from bandwidth and server costs, there are a number of other costs associated with the site that have not been met by advertising/charging.

We are fully aware of our obligations to those that have already signed up. those that have done so have been sent a private e-mail outlining the position and www.redissue.co.uk will meet all its contractual obligations.

We would like to thank all those who have supported the site by subscribing to the news service or using our affiliates but as less than one in twenty of the regular visitors considers that the provision of the site in its current format is worth 8p a day we have no choice but to take the action as outlined above.

Sad. Unfortunately subscriber based sites rarely work out on the net unless they're backed up by some large corporation that can absorb an initial loss.

This site is better than Red Issue, and the forum is markedly better.

Why would people play if they can go elsewhere.

Sad but true.

Did someone say that the more visitors to a site, the harder it is to maintain it? If that's the case, what happens if we get a large influx here?
