It's the story that has run and run in recent weeks and just won't go away. Rio Ferdinand's proposed move to Manchester United is still very much up in the air but after David O'Leary's departure from Leeds, the issue looks like reaching a resolution one way or the other soon enough. Mark Bain gives his expectations of how things will turn out and pinpoints why the 23-year-old would be the perfect addition to United's leaky defence...

If i were ferdinand i wld leave leeds and join a team that is actually capable of winning ... why stick to leeds ... come on!!!

ferdinand will definitely leave leeds as i think he wants to improve and progress as a player - and that means champions league football on a regular basis.

so it looks pretty likely that he'll join you lot. . .as badly a kept secret as sol campbell going to the arse last summer. personally i reckon he'd fare better in italy or spain where the game and tactics suit him better. you'll need to sign a 'messy' centre-back to play alongside him. . .gary breen?

;)
