It's the story that has run and run in recent weeks and just won't go away. Rio Ferdinand's proposed move to Manchester United is still very much up in the air but after David O'Leary's departure from Leeds, the issue looks like reaching a resolution one way or the other soon enough. Mark Bain gives his expectations of how things will turn out and pinpoints why the 23-year-old would be the perfect addition to United's leaky defence...

I take it you're referring to the 'is Rio the defender you need' thread.
Well, to me Rio Ferdinand is the best defender of his type around an available (?) at the moment. He is still only 23 and has plenty of capacity to improve. I'm sure you'll not argue with that (though being an argumentative bugger you probably will ;)
But if you read carefully, nowhere do I say he would solve the defensive problems at a stroke. I mention Hyypia, Adams, Stam, Keown as the sort of defender he would need to have alongside him. Currently United do not have one of those 'hard men' in the squad.
Who is the 'tit' now then? I agree with you to a point yet you still criticise? Catch a grip...

Alright..easy tiger..

I didn't read your scriptings, and I won't bother now as it seems you've just copied what I said..

Which means that what you say will be correct.. ;)

In my job I would never get away with copying anyone. Sorry 'bout that. The problem is that if you start copy other people's work, it becomes a habit - and before you know it you've copied twice, then three times - eventually, if you're on the same subject, you end up contradicting yourself even though you don't know you've done it.
I like to have an informed opinion. And there's no point having an opinion if it isn't your own.
Still, I think Rio would be a great addition to the United squad - but not the whole answer.
Quite liked being called a tiger though. GRRRRRR!!!
