I love librarians
Up to today if I googled Redcafe it came up on the first page. No longer - and doesn't seem to come up in the first 5 pages - except for an old link to the Caff. Interestingly there is a link to a RedCafe2 ???

Anybody know whats happened to Googles Caf ?? and what is Redcafe2 ?

When you type in

"Man Utd forum"
"Man Utd forum"
"Manchester United forum"

RedCafe doesn't show up on the first page, we'll never get as many new members like that, needs sorting out.

With some of the spastics coming through the ranks at the moment, do we really need more?

What's going on there then?

Have Redcafe and Google fallen out?

Hows about typing "www.redcafe.net" into your browser?

Has anyone tried it? If so let me know how it turns out.

RedCafe has the following tags:

"redcafe,redcafe.net,football,soccer,Beckham,Keane,Ferdinand,Ronaldo,Van Nistelrooy,Manchester United,Man United, Man Utd, Manchester United Football Club,Neville,Rooney,Giggs,Scholes,Cantona,Best,Robson,Charlton,Edwards, forum, bbs, discussion, bulletin board"

Now IMO, they need to slim them down some.

I would remove:

redcafe.net
bbs
Beckham
Van Nistelrooy
Edwards
Man United
Cantona
Best Charlton
Keane

And add to the list talk, and chat.

If the object is to attract new members, you have to think of what they woudl type into a search engine nowadays, or when simply looking for a forum or talk site.

If you load the list of tags, that doesn't mean it will work in your favour, or at least so i understand.

However as i said, this can be suberted to some extent if you are willing to pay using Google Adwords.

That's not good :(

Not sure what happened. The google spider may have tried to crawl the site when it was down for a while yesterday. When it couldn't access the site it temporarily (I hope!) removed the site from the listings. Next time the crawler does its thing the site will be back where it was before.

That's the good scenario.

The bad scenario is the site has been de-listed for some reason :nervous:

Nick, thanks for the tips regarding the meta tags but search engines like Google don't rely on meta data in that way. They index the actual page content and do some other magical stuff which is what makes google google! :)

But I might update the tags anyway, they're well old.

Yes, very strange.

I blame it on the fact that the logo no longer says "RedCafe".

See my post four behind this one.

talking of dopey shit .. how long do I have to put up with this rep points bollocks ??

The 'newbie' forum is the best place to be on there actually. Once you're 'upgraded' you can't get back to post responses to some of the innane drivel and it drove me up the wall. Yes, it's run and populated by clueless OOTs who never actually attend matches but actually worth a visit to educate a few of the feckwits. I was banned for making a moderator look a bit foolish in a cyber-argument - no sense of humour over there (see the Homer Simpson/Glazr thread if anyone can link it).

they seem lovely over there...

we should invite them round for tea.

Oh. Dear. God. Thank feck for the caf.

I like the way one of them insults a poster by calling him a speccy cnut and then in his very next post saying he has worked as a scientist himself.

No really, I believe you. Honestly. I once did a bit of work on the side as a brain surgeon myself after leaving college.

Oh, and ralphie88 doesn't like us much.

He's only here to educate us on how to not attend end of season celebrations.
