'tis a silly place
So last couple of days I've had this problem

I'll have a window open on the caf and suddenly of its own volition it will start going to some url made up solely of numbers - usually "76." followed by random other numbers and dots. This url asks to open Adobe Acrobat and then freezes all my internet windows.

I've had this problem on several different computers and networks and it only seems to happen when I'm on the caf. Anyone else had this problem and know what it may be?

yeah its happening me too. when i'm reading a thread i get randomly thrown to some poker/gambling site.

it doesnt happen when i visit any other site....

I have a huge list in my hosts file and pop-ups blocked in IE and I never ever get pop ups on here.

I got the same virus, which spread through my network and 'infected' my other two pc's.
And I'm using firefox.

Its a bastard to get rid of too...it keeps re-spawning...
Think the only way to get rid of it is to burn my pc's...

My computer has some bad case of pc aids. Something called Virtumonde and I just can't get rid of it (have tried all sorts of spyware programs).
It's similar to what has been described above but it has nothing to do with RedCafe.

If I weren't in my finals I would've format my hard drive by now.

Have you possibly tried add/remove programs?

Those advertisers know their target audiences...

especially the Google ads...

Yeah, but nothing of importance though as I don't have the patience nor the nerves to cope with anything out of the ordinary.
My main computer had a hard drive failure not long ago so if this won't work I'm pretty much in deep shit.
I will take a look at this when I have time. It started after Windows downloaded and installed service pack 3 so I had to get a new crack for the activation thing. It didn't surprise my but I've usually had an easy time getting rid of spyware/trojans and such, the few times I get them.

I believe the issue is also and especially about having a proper anti-malware/spyware/virus program installed that should help stave off these kinds of undue intrusions.

It's not only about which site or which browser is being used. Protection is of utmost importance. I believe those not having the problem most likely have a proper internet protection setup.

a few other vBulletin sites i use have this problem.

I dont get it thought because i use firefox and adblock plus. :)
