It's beginning to look that way isn't it. It would be sad to see him leave so early. In the end it would seem necessary if we wish to invest in defenders etc.

I certainly would not like him to leave so early especially since I believe that he wil come good next season - a class player like him will eventually blossom.
But if we need the cash for defenders and selling Veron will provide that, I'm afraid he would have to make way.

I estimate that we need at least two new defenders and one new striker to get back our competitive edge against other PL clubs in the following season. That means at least another 50 million is needed. Hope kenyon's word is true and Fergie really can get the players he want.

Me too, fergie is far too stubborn (and rightly so imo). Fergie signed his as a long term player and i reckon he'll be here for yrs.
Look at the way Juninho played after he settled in properly, i know their differnet players but still cream allways rises to the top and remember Veron is one of the worlds best players.
Remember the debate here before Christmas over wheter Bex or Veron would win World Player of the yr?

That's typical of many posters on here I'm affraid. They change their opinions more often than a whore changes sexual partners. Sometimes it's as bad as KopTalk on here.
I was thrilled when we signed him, and I'll be thrilled when he plays for us next season. The world cup will do him a world of good IMO.
I just hope that he plays a blinder in the CL final, and scores the winning goal. He would be hailed as a god and a legend on here if that happened - people are that fickle!

That's what Softy says LFC have to spend on players at the moment......look out MU LFC are catching you up.

Considering nearly a third of our revenue comes from gate recipts, they have no chance whilst they remain in that unfillable little stadium of theirs!

A funny little fact though is that United have spent less than our main rivals during Alex's reign of success, despite breaking the transfer records, by a better consistency in picking quality players, giving players time to adapt, and of course, the Fergie fledglings helped. What concerns me is that the Fergie fledglings are now 26/27 and about to start losing value, and there is a relative paucity of talent coming through the youth system. I think signings like Forlan will happen more often, or more expensive ones like Cisse. One of the problems with being a Plc is the need to try to maintain the sort of profit margins that you get when everything is prosperous even during the hard times and this leads to a vicious circle of selling players and buying cheaper riskier players who then turn out to be a waste of money. This is what Leeds is finding out. Obviously its not as bad as that for us, and I'm not trying to suggest that it is, but success is a very fragile thing - I don't expect us to be as dominant this decade as we were the last.

So we should all be happy that the Plc made £16m profit on transfers, and £30m odd net profit in the last 6 months, but that we'll probably have to sell to buy more players, and we won't be spending like we did last summer for a while (even though we made a net profit on transfers). Thats just great that. I'm so happy for the pension companies.

You should perhaps try and get JSV to have a look at this.........

I agree with what you are saying mate! But you cant expect the youth system to come up with what it did with Giggs, Scholes, Bex, Nevilles, Butt, Gilespie again - that was a miracle. And as for dominating, I think that has gone out of the window in European football in general. Look at the other European leagues this year and you will see what I mean.

I see it, and I don't see the problem...
I'd rather we remained in a strong financial state than go out and spend madly like other European clubs and suffer the consequences later...
Yorkie must go, we all know that so I think Kenyon was saying we need to get rid of the deadwood before splashing out...
As the figures show, our balance sheet is more than sound, so I think it would be rather foolish to think this means we CAN'T buy before we sell...
I find the idea of a scouser laughing at our money situation quite funny actually...

I agree, particularly with the 90min rule. However, I do think that Arsenal and Liverpool have been doing one thing better than us for the last few years, and that is buying youth. Whether it be Le Tallec and Pongolle, or Pennant, they have been investing in youth. While we can't expect such abundance of talent as the fergie fledglings, we can expect more than we have been producing since. With regards to domination, it has been a real one off, with SAF the main reason behind it. I think we got a glimpse this year of just what life without him might be like. I am soooo glad we don't have Capello as our manager right now.
