Hi all,

I'm going on holiday tomorrow evening and I'm using the chance to catch up on TV and DVD's that I've wanted to see for a while now.

I'm going shopping tomorrow so I'd like your recommendations before I go.

I love House, The Big Bang Theory & How I Met Your Mother. I'm going to watch Chuck and Lie To Me while I'm on holiday. Any other good TV boxsets?

In terms of movies, my favourite is V For Vendetta but I enjoy a large spectrum of movies. Comedies especially. I don't really watch many movies (I had a mini movie watching spree over Easter but before that it was last summer that I watched a movie) so all and any recommendations are welcome.

Thanks Caftards.

I really want the one foot in the grave boxset. I love it.

Maybe you should invest. Though I am a fan of old comedies. I like Keeping up appearances as well.

Modern Family's a great show and sounds like you'll enjoy it. There's only 1 season though.

Eastenders

Lost

Taken by Steven Spielberg...a few good years old now, but well worth getting the boxset.

24.

Get all the seasons, sit down and watch them all back to back. Would be the best 8 days of your life.

Season one of 'Millennium.'

Can you tell me a bit more about it please? :)

I'm not a big fan of old-school comedy to be honest, but thanks anyway, much appreciated.

Ah I saw some episodes of this and thought it was quite good, so yeah I'll definitely look out for that thanks!

Millennium marked the second major television series created by Chris Carter, who'd already made his name as the brains behind The X-Files. And, like its predecessor, it shares a lot of the same themes--it's a crime thriller that gradually unfolds into a grand conspiracy involving the government and the fate of the entire world.

Agent Frank Black (Lance Henriksen) is a former FBI agent who has transplanted his family from Washington DC to Seattle, after suffering something of a breakdown. He's an expert criminal profiler--arguably the best, thanks to his ability to "see" into the minds of killers--and he fears for the safety of his wife and young daughter. In Seattle, he joins the mysterious Millennium Group, an agency of freelance crime-busters who investigate particularly brutal crimes.

As a result, Millennium is downright bleak viewing, as Black jumps from horrific slaying to horrific slaying. Moreover, there's a growing sense of unease about the workings of the Millennium Group, so that in typical Chris Carter fashion, you don't know who to trust. With its pre-Y2K angst and overwhelming darkness, as well as its general humourlessness, Millennium hasn't dated as well as The X-Files. Still, thanks to Carter's vision and Henriksen's compelling take on the tortured Black, it's difficult not to get hooked.

Season one doesn't delve too deeply into the conspiracy bullshit mentioned above, that is very prevalent in the X-Files. It is more a series of stand alone episodes that make for very compelling viewing.

I hate Eastenders and I saw a couple of episodes of Lost but didn't like it. I'll look into that last one though, thanks.

You're going on holiday and want to spend it watching TV?!?

There's something seriously wrong there.

:) I was born in England but everything else about me is Greek Cypriot. We go over annually for a "holiday" where we basically live like we do in England. We go and see family and the like but I spend about 60% of the time at home relaxing. I know it might sound odd but compared to the hecticness that is life on London (which means I don't get a chance to watch much TV, see movies etc), I have about a month or so where I can literally do everything that I want - which is often nothing .

I saw a lot of the first series of 24 because my Mum loved it but I didn't like it too much, thank you though :D

Cheers, sounds good I'll have a look if I can get a decent priced boxset.

Thanks all :)
