Question - if we wanted a cheap 4th or even a 5th 'link' striker, what about a gamble on Rebrov? I've never seen much of him to be honest - just heard the stories about his Shevchenko days - but he was a top player who seems to have had a nightmare. What do people think?

It would be just that, a 'gamble'. Too much of a risk IMO.

Actually I posted an exact same suggestion, suffice to say it was laughed off by most.
I think he's avaliable on the cheap and has a proven record in the CL, we need a 4th attacker and he also plays in the "hole" position behind the main striker. We haven't really had such a player since Sheringham left and if SAF can bring the best outta him, he'll be a hit I reckon.
Let's face it, he can't be worth much more than Forlan, and can't be much worse.

????? Forlan was like 6,75 mill wasn`t he??? thats not cheap. Besides, Forlan WILL be a hit...

fkinell cant we leave the premature slating of forlan and the accompanying future egg-on-face to the ABUs?
he's 22, he's a farmboy from uruguay playing for the greatest club in the world, SAF knows this is gonna take time, he keeps trying to tell us this, but THE BOY WILL COME GOOD. his approach play and general making a nuisance of himself is already superb. there are gonna be a few defenders get a nasty bite this year. <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

Rebrov will cost more than 5 mil and it is hard to see Fergie spends that money on a 28 years old who has not been playing well in EPL.

Rebrov has 23 CL goals, not bad. he's had a nightmare at Spurs but he's still a class player. If we were willing to look at Di Canio I dont see why Rebrov wouldn't suit.

He's hardly been given a fair go at Spurs and when he was with Kiev he was a fabulous player along with Shevchenko. We know what he can do with great forwards in front of him and he's proven on the biggest stage. He wouldn't be my choice of a striker but if we're lookig at the £3-4m price range then he is probably as good as anyone else out there.

Rebrov has been off form for a while now, and I would rather go for someone younger than a 28 year old Spurs failure. He is a very good player on form, of that there is no doubt, but he just hasn't performed in a long time.
