Rebrov?

Tottenham are keen to get rid, Rebrov wants out, and his price will be a lot less than what Spurs paid for him.
We need a fourth attacker, with Dwight almost certainly out, we'd be a bit thin in attack if RVN was injured. Ole and Forlan together don't inspire me with much confidence to be honest, so a fourth alternative would be welcomed.

Rebrov is a class act, as seen in his past displays for Dinamo Kiev, and I think SAF is the man to bring the best out of him again.

I can't decide which is more bizarre - the fact that Ole doesn't inspire you or the fact that you'd like Rebrov to replace him.

I don't understand why people keep picking random players and saying "SAF will make him great for us". At least give him something decent to work with!

Raoul -

No, it's not Ole himself who doesn't inspire me, nor have I said I want him replaced, but the idea of Ole paired with Forlan for an extended time without RVN does not give me much confidence. Perhaps they'll prove me wrong next season, but having a handy 4th striker would be most useful, and Rebrov could fit the bill.

why would we want to buy a Tottenham reject to be our 4th striker?

Rebrov IS a decent player. He was a consistent goal scorer in the CL with a pretty average Kiev team and is a key player for the Ukraine.
Obviously SAF doesn't wave a magic wand and make the crappest of players great, but he does bring the best out of talented players.

As I've mentioned, he's a good player with a good track record. Just cos he didn't fit in at Spurs doesn't make him a bad player overnight.
He is very good playing of the main striker and Shevchenko would never have scored the amount of goals he did for Kiev without Rebrov.
We haven't got a Cantona/Sheringham type player, and Yorke isn't gonna get into SAF's good books, so it's worth looking for an alternative. Rebrov is worth considering IMO.

No, I just happen to think he's a good player who could improve the team. :)

My thoughts as well, the guy must be fecking desperate to join RedCafe to state his case

His English is good though, I'm impressed.

Neither Yorke nor Rebrov is a Cantona/Sheringham type player, which is what we would need. Sorry Sergei.

Okay, perhaps you can name a few decent strikers whom we can realistically buy for a decent price AND will be willing to spend time on the bench?

In that mould, maybe we might want to have PDC, remember we are talking about an option not a definite starter.

Personally, I have said it a million times so I won't go into it but I think the solution to our backup problems up front as striker/support and on the wings is.... (Raoul, please complete the statement)

I think that Rebrov is worth thinking about for the right price. :p

Who cares what you think, you have gone bonkers, everyone knows that. ;)

Next thing you will post your arguments on why we should not sign him.

That's a good idea! :)

Yes Ronaldinho would be a better option, but a VERY expensive one too, especially as he'll be hard to fit into the team on a regular basis.
£6M should be enough to tempt Spurs to sell, and Rebrov would not be asking for extortionate wages as Ronaldinho would.
Besides I can't stand looking at the goofy cnut. :D

You wouldn't mind after he starts doing the business for us, believe me. :D

I know Ronaldinho doesn't come under "cheap striker backup" but he is SO versatile and top class he would play more often than you suggest. Just think about it, whenever one of the following are injured/suspended or need a rest you can play him: Beckham, Giggs, OGS, RVN. Whenever we play 4-5-1, he is your man to cut through a tight defence. Whenever we are behind and in need of a goal/match is in deadlock, he is a very handy card to play. He is the shit man! 25m? Anytime.

Of course, it would probably mean not spending 35m on Rio, which I think we shouldn't!

I have posted this just couple of days ago under the topic "cheaper alternatives" ... was saying that if Rio saga can't get done and Duffy not arriving ... then the other alternatives I could just say "well ok" are :
Ayala
Rebrov
Coly

I said this cos I think we have more than even chances to get all the 3 above if the gaffer really want to try ... instead of ppl like Rio, Duffy and Finnan where obviously, it's a mammoth
task ..

On Rebrov case, I just think that he'll be much more than happy to be our 3rd striker looking at the games and level Man Utd is playing in ... rather than waiting to get rotten at WHL bench ..
