Team Prath
Goalkeeper
One of the best of his era and part of two exceptional teams in Ajax 91-95 and united 2006-2010, Edwin Van Der Sar is exceptional at shot stopping commanding the box, playing the ball from the back. Also a good leader in organising the defence. Last man in defence and tough to beat.
Centrebacks
As the left CB is Paolo Montero who was an agressive CB as part of a juventus side that was successful late 90s and early 00s. Calm on the ball but exceptional aerially with great pace and anticipation.
Alongside him is another of the era's top CB Jaap Stam, who again is a tall pacy and aggressive CB who was part of a successful United and Netherlands side. His leadership will be key in defending against the opposition
Manuel Amoros was a versatile full-back who was able to play both left and right-side without a significant different due to his great in both feet. He was an excellent wing-back in the world during 1980s with his fast, excellent movement, intelligent and skillful. He was exceptional both defensively and offensively.
Roberto Carlos needs no introduction. One of the best fullbacks of his era especially in attack with a strong left foot. Also capable of holding his own in defence being part of Real's domestic and European success for 11 years as well as Brazil's World Cup success in 2002
Midfield
As a playmaker from midfield, Juan Sebastian Veron is probably the best player for that position. His Manchester United and Chelsea stint may cloud the fact that he was amazing during his Italian stint, and probably one of the best player in Italy and maybe even Europe at the time. Capable of exceptional vision, passing accuracy, strength, guile and defensive awareness, he will have a free role to dictate play from midfield.
In a box to box role on the right side is Michael Essien who had an exceptional engine in his prime. He will have a main job here marking stopping his runs but his late running into the opposition box and energy would be key in attack too.
In a box to box role on the left is Patrick Vieira who is another aggressive yet technically excellent midfielder not afraid to get stuck in. He was excellent in both ends of the pitch with his late runs into the box often creating goals for arsenal. Tall and pacy, he will be an extra outlet for defending and attacking
Attack
As a left forward is the legendary Thierry Henry, who was a key forward for arsenal and France and later Barcelona. Fast, strong, excellent finisher and exceptional vision, he will have full timelicense to cut in from the left like he often used to do at arsenal and Barcelona and cause havoc in the final third and also using his height to get into the box and get on the end of accurate crosses from the wingbacks.
As a false 9, Francesco Totti is perfect for the role. He famously made the position his own under Rudi Garcia Lethal finishing plus great creativity and pace. He was one of the best outfield players for Italy in the last 20 years. Exceptional vision and versatility coupled with lethal finishing means he is going to be a handful for any defense to handle.
Right forward Carlos Tevez is quick, tenacious, powerful, hard-working, dynamic, and versatile forward. A technical, tactically intelligent, and creative player, with an eye for goal,Due to his pace, strength, work-rate, and stamina, Tevez was also extremely useful when possession was lost, and he excels at pressing opponents, aiding his team to win back the ball and start attacking plays, making him effective both defensively and offensively. He was also a good dribbler often playing on the right for a similarly fluid united team
The front 3 have complete licence to interchange their positions and play a more fluid game.
Team Roles
Edwin Van Der Sar - Goalkeeper
Roberto Carlos - Attacking Left back
Paolo Montero - Ball playing CB
Jaap Stam - Stopper CB
Manuel Amoros - Balanced Right Back
Juan Sebastian Veron - Deep Lying Playmaker
Michael Essien - Box-to-Box
Patrick Vieira - Box-to-Box
Thierry Henry - Left Forward
Francesco Totti - False 9
Carlos Tevez - Right Forward
Subs - John O'Shea, Fulvio Collovati, Nani, William Gallas
Injured - Michael Ballack, Wayne Rooney
Defending Strategy
Both Totti and Tevez have excellent work rate so they will be extra men in midfield defending.
Carlos and especially Amoros are also good defenders so they can cover their flank.
We have what I would call a perfect CB pairing with Stam and Montero, both of whom are aggressive yet guile. Both have no significant weaknesses. Excellent in the air, fast, part of an exceptional team in their peak.
In Midfield, Essien and Vieira are both excellent box to box players with great defensive work. In tandem with the CBs, they will solidify the back line with their defensive ability. Veron is underrated in his defensive aspect. However, he isn't incapable of being defensively solid and can support well.
Van der Sar in the goal is a tougher prospect in my opinion than cech in goal. Cech is great but VdS is a matchwinner on his own.
Attacking strategy
It will be a counterattacking team but also capable of keeping possession when needed. Due to the pace in the team (front 3, Carlos, Veron)
Most of the play will be initiated from the back by one of Montero and VdS. Both the midfielders will carry the ball forward, Veron more so and his vision can put passes to the full backs or one of the front three. Both the fullbacks are excellent crossers and while Tevez and Totti are not very tall, they are fairly good in the air. Henry has a very good aerial presence.
The presence of Vieira means Amoros has more freedom to bomb forward and Support attack.
For set pieces, the CBs can come forward and their height can cause havoc. Not to mention Carlos' or Veron's freekicks
Why we will win
Pace all around with quick agile front 3, Essien, Vieira, Carlos, Amoros and CBs are all quick. So they can recover quite well.
Adding Defensive solidity without compromising on attacking outlets. Vieira and Essien are two of the best box to box midfielders in the last 30 years or so. While they were defensively excellent, they also contributed quite a bit defensively. Vieira will thrive in this position with no DM alongside him as Essien can match him with Stam and Montero to cover him anyway.
Zlatan isn't the fastest striker around and
he is up against two no nonsense defenders excellent in the year and on the ground.
Team 2mufc0
Formation 4-3-3.
Defensively I have 2 of the best central defenders of all time in Thuram and Hansen,Hansen being the ball playing defender and Thuram the stopper, both would work well together. At right back is the great Brazilian Carlos Alberto, a fantastic all round full back, world class going forward and in defense. At left back is Evra, one of the great United players and a key part of that 2008 side, again great going forward and in defense. In goal is the ever reliable Petr Cech, capable of making consistent game winning saves.
In front of the defence i have Redondo, a GOAT defensive/deep lying midfielder able to control the game from deep and run the show, Sir Alex once described him 'like he had a magnet in his feet'. In front of him will be Tardelli and Flacao in box to box roles, these two will provide defensive solidity aswell as fantastic service for the front three. Tardelli will be the driving force in this midfield with his great mentality and personality, while Falcao will provide the finesse.
Upfront will be Zlatan, who at the peak of his powers was the ultimate all round striker, quick, strong, great passer, skillful, fantastic in the air and a great goal scorer. He will be supported by Jairzinho and Keizer who can come centrally and combine with him or go wide and the get the crosses into him. Zlatan would also combine well with Tardelli and Falcao with their runs into the box. I believe this system will get the best out of Zlatan and due to his skillset the perfect striker for this role.
Overall i have threats through the middle, the left hand side (Evra/Keizer), on the right is the devastating Alberto/Jairzinho combo that was big part of Brazil's 1970 world cup success. Defensively, all of my defenders are GOAT level and have won the biggest prizes and the same applies to the midfield which has the personnel to take hold of the game and control it for most periods. On the wings are two GOAT level wingers which will be difficult to contain for even the best defenders.
