Realistically how many points is this squad actually worth?

Earlier in the week I posted a thread: At this stage would you be satisfied with another domestic cup and a 7th place finish on 62 points

In response to that thread Rojofiam mentioned: "No. Squad is way better than that. We have a 75-80 pts squad"

So the question to the Caf is: realistically, how many points is this squad actually worth?

In terms of rules of engagement, set aside your thoughts about our manager and just focus on the actual potential of the playing staff. Also, forget about position, as this is relative to the performance of others an not always a genuine measure of absolute progress. Just focus on the points tally.

I think that might be overstating things. Maybe a top 4 squad with a really talented manager at the helm and some good coaches in place.

Well, Spreadex, the spread betting company, who have years of experience of forming markets on this sort of thing have us finishing 8th with around 58-59 pts.

That same poster said earlier that Harry Maguire would be one of the best defenders in history if he had pace. He’s miles off it again if he thinks this squad is worth anywhere near 80 points.

With sensible tactics, motivation et al, it’s about 70+ isn’t it?

On a good day about 15 to 20 pints.

On a bad day anywhere from 20 - 40 pints.

I'd say over the course of a season, you're looking at anywhere between 700 to 1000 pints.

We finished on 75 points in ETH's first season and we had an arguably worse squad (albeit we had an in-form Marcus). I still think this team is worth between 70-80 points, particularly taking into account the money that was spent.
