Realistic target: who do we need.

I was thinking that maybe we could have a poll of all the potential targets we have been linked with, to see what the Caf consensus is.

Not only will it show who everyone wants, but also where people think we need to strengthen. There is a lot of talk of different players on these boards but no real consensus on who we think would be the best option.

If we stuck maybe 8 names we have been linked with and have a poll?

So if the transfer muppets would kindly suggest the 8/10 most likely targets, Your Hamsiks, Rodwells Pastores etc. Nothing Mental like Xavi obviously.

I think it would be a good idea.

Dwayne, hombre or available mods, if you could do so that would be great.

Instead, why not do something more constructive and less muppity and give everyone a budget of 15 million to find players they think we can sign within that to improve our squad?

It would throw up some unusual names and possibly some younger talents a lot of us are unaware of rather than the usual Fifa, Fm names (Pastore, Hamsik, Rodwell, Sanchez etc etc etccccc)
 
Might need a goalkeeper
Dont really need anyone else.
 
Charlie Adam or Jordan Henderson, a random goalkeeper and Ashley Young.

Same, I would not want to see us signing established players in defence or up front. We've got more than enough options in both areas for now. GK is quite obvious, and the midfield really needs some new blood in my opinion.

I get the feeling we are going to be disappointed this summer. Cleverley and Welbeck will come into the first team and that will be used as a reason for us to not make any major signings.

Dont get me wrong - I like Cleverley and Welbeck, but we need a quality midfielder and GK in addition.

GK and CM (my first choices would be Neuer and Schweinsteiger, but unlikely)

Owen x2, Obertan, Gibson, PIG

In: Neuer/Adler/Stekelenburg/De Gea (£15m), Young (£10-15m), Rodwell (£15m + add-ons), Welbeck (back from loan), Cleverley (back from loan), Morrison, Pogba, Petrucci, King (all promoted from our academy).

Net Spend of around £30m.
 
With Rio's injury issues and Brown reportedly in love with Sir Alex another utility player might be considered - can Rodwell be groomed?
 
Big fan of Snejder and would love him at United.

The fact we are lacking goals from midfield, i really think he will be ideal, he will also help the younger players like Pogba, Tunnecliffe and possibly Rodwell develop.
 
One or two centre mids depending on whether Scholes decides to stay on and whether Cleverley is to play centrally for us (assuming Gibson is moved on and Hargreaves leaves). Goalkeeper.

Sneijder doesn't get that many goals from midfield does he? From memory he's hardly what you'd call a high scoring midfielder (although to be fair if he can get more than like... three he'd be above all of our CMs in that department)

All proven PL players all would improve our squad and all are very realistic targets whom we should be able to pick up quite easily.

We do need need defenders even with uncertainty over Rio's fitness with Smalling and Evans as back up. We are well covered at right and left back and have plenty of strikers

Oh and we need a keeper too obviously.

Which reports? I think Brown should just be professional and put his passion aside.

Yeah our central midfield is terrific. We need two players; a goalkeeper and a CM. Personally I think the midfielder has to be a player who can get box to box and be effective at both ends of the pitch. Someone like an Ince and if we can't get someone that good then get a poor man's Ince.

I'd even go for 2 players in CM if I'm honest.
 
Who's that Lucas who came on for Brazil towards the end? Not Leiva..

Looked a handful, decent strength, pace, ability to beat a man and composure to pass the ball.
