Chelsea and Manchester City back on alert as Kaka's told he can quit Madrid

Real Madrid will kick-start the European transfer market by offloading over £100million’s worth of players including Chelsea and Manchester City target Kaka

The Brazilian, along with Lassana Diarra, Fernando Gago and Pedro Leon have all been told they are surplus to requirements by boss Jose Mourinho.

The former world player of the year is adamant that he wants to remain in the Spanish capital, but it's understood that Mourinho favours cashing in on the 29-year-old.

Now the Blues and City will weigh up their options and decide whether or not to pursue Kaka, who cost Real a then world record £56million when he joined from AC Milan in 2009.

Former Portsmouth man Diarra would also represent an attractive option for many Premier League clubs, with Manchester United, and Tottenham having previously been linked with bid.

However, English sides will face a fight from Italian clubs including Milan, Inter, Juventus and Roma, who are also keeping a watchful eye on the unwanted Real foursome.

In light of the new football finance rules, I would like City to spend silly money on the vanity purchase of Kaka; money that they would never be able to recoup via their relatively poor legitimate revenue streams.

Kaka as a player is not likely to return to anything like his previous best and at 29 doesn't exactly have time on his side.

He'd be better going back to Italy, one match against Stoke and he'll be carrying his knees home in a Tesco bag.

I don't think £40m is that unrealistic, I'm sure City or Chelsea would pay that for him.

I believe Marca speaks in Euros. Those are the prices they suggest Real demanding

Kaka 40m, Lass 20m, Gago 12m, Garay 10m, P.Leon 8m

I would probably agree to pay 30 mln pounds for Kaka and Diarra duo.

No chance of him joining Man Utd, very seldom do we invest much money in players aged 27 or above. Kaka is 29.

It was always a ploy to sell shirts and make a quick buck. Kaka's time had come and gone a while back.

I always like it when media outlets say this, and they do it on exchange rates. It wasn't a world record, Real Madrid paid more for Zidane in Euros than they did for Kaka in Euros, and considering both transactions were in Euros between two countries that use Euros, what the hell the Euro-Sterling exchange rate has to do with it I have not got the foggiest idea.

Would Kaka do a Sneijder or Van Der Vaart ... having new lease of life somewehre else.

Not if he keeps suffering from injuries. He will become like Joe Cole. It does not matter if you move some place new, if injuries bother you, then you are not going to do well.

i believe he is coming back from that knee injury and is just getting into match fitness. He is still going to be a very good signing. Cole is just Cole , i don't get the hype about him

If he was offered to us for say £15m would you take him?

I would, he can still offer a top club that touch of class but not at the same level of 2007 imo

For that price I would take him, he still has the ability to change a football match and still has got something to offer. He would be a very good addition and would give us options, our substitutes bench would include Kaká and Owen. He is not, evidently, the same he was in 2007.

But of course it won't happen. He will be sold to City or Chelsea for more than £27m.

Sometimes I ask myself.... when he destroyed us in 2007, would he have done the same to Stoke?

Hmm.....

anyway, he was a class player on his day (sitting at the round table alongside Messi and Ronaldo, but his career has been riddled with injuries and inconsistencies.

The Cofederations Cup 2008 was the last time Kaka showed me that he had the potential to sit at that table, it brings a tear to my eye, I'm actually at my desk crying.

'Real Madrid To Offload Kaka'

Sounds like he's in a crate carried by a forklift

He'd be an ideal signing for Chelsea to play in behind either Torres or Drogba IMO.

We have Wayne Rooney to do that.

If SAF got him back to his best, which he could, he'd vill a Scholes shaped void going forward and creatively.
