I'm not sure how this is coming about but twicee now whilst on the caf i've been re-directed to different sites without clicking on any link or ads. Last night it happened at home on my personal computer, i was directed to a site that basically wouldn't let me exit, one of those that brings up a box saying 'are you sure you wish to exit' and no matter what you do you can't navigate away from it. I thought maybe i'd accidentally clicked something.

Just though on my computer in work I was automatically directed to a 'chinese sex' site - which isn't really great to be on in work. Again though same scenario - whithout any promting or clicking on an ad the caf i disappears and I find myself on an unsavoury site.

Has this happened to anybody else, and if not could someone maybe help explain why this may be happening.

Cheers

Use firefox, with the add-on 'AdBlock Plus' installed. That might help?

I'll try that at home, not sure it's so much of an option on the works machine.

It's only happened since the upgrade to the site, so is it something to do with that do you think?

I really don't know enough on these things to know how and why this happens.

I'm looking into this now. It should go without saying that this should not be happening.

I never noticed all those boxes of sunglasses in the mod room before Niall?

Are we being given new uniforms?

I've gotten a bunch of Trojan viruses at home from being on RedCafe. They cause unrelated Sex sites to open up, and also a fake Anti-Virus program to run relentlessly.

Now I just go on at work, behind a massive firewall

As some of you may have noticed, we're running a bunch of new ads on the site and some of them may be responsible for this redirecting.

The offending ads should hopefully have been disabled but if you find yourself still being redirected, please let me know straight away either in this topic or PM me.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

No worries, cheers for clearing it up!

I can relax no a bit in work without fear of some random website appearing on my screen!

I had the fake anti-virus one yesterday. Was on the Cafe when my computer restarted of its own accord then the fake anti-virus was in the bottom left of my taskbar. I just scanned my pc and removed the quarentined item.

thought it was just me.

i got re-directed onto a site claiming i needed to scan my drive for trojans and whatnot.

i immediately shut Firefox down, but had a look at my task manager beforehand to see what was running.

i had no illegal processes.

i scanned my system using Windows Defender. it found no illegitimate software. so i concluded it came from this site.

was strange, since it's never happened in the several years i've been here. has the site been hacked or something?

Is this a recent thing?

It first happened to me in March/April, and I cleaned it, and then it happened again this past weekend. If your virus contamination is bad enough, it can slow your Virusscan program (Mine is McAfee) down to an absolute crawl. Took me 7 hours to scan my computer completely, and it didnt even find all the infections.

This place has a free program that gets rid of this stuff. It's bailed me out twice now, when McAfee lets one or two of them go.

It's like fleas. If you don't kill them all, they'll be back.

Focus people :)

It's important I find out if anyone is still being redirected. So if it happens, please sound off in here.

thanks for that ,just ran a quick scan nothing found but still...

For some reason unknown to me my computer has started to make an annoying squeak instead of a definite click when going forward and backwards in the tabs. I wonder if this is connected to the adverts too. I have run the anti- virus stuff but it doesn't find anything. The site seems to be randomly clicking mouse clicks and some threads are weird when you load them they stop IE from working and it closes down.

So it's not just me then?

Twice now over the past couple of weeks I've had the Pcantispyware2010 virus installed onto my PC, and I had no idea how it happened.
