I loved Tools of Destruction and Quest for Booty, love the series. Due for release in November, can't wait. There's just so much depth and fun to the series, and great for both young and old.

Tools of Destruction didn't seem to get the sales it deserved, especially considering that it's one of the only high quality platform type games on the PS3, looks like this, and runs at 60fps. Anyone else looking forward to A Crack in Time?

My lad is away at sailing camp this week, I'll show him these screenshots tomorrow evening. The definition is superb. When the first one came out I thought the graphics were amazing, the 360 vision and the way you use the right joystick to scan everything around you. Hours of fun searching for the secret golden bolts, the grindrails, the puzzles to unlock doors, collecting the armoury of weapons. That weapon that turns your enemy into a chicken

Never played Ratchet and Clank. Is it like Jak & Daxter? If so I'll probably check it out. Don't have a PS3 yet, but I have a list of games I'll pick up when I get one in 2 months.

I wish they would bring out a retro disc for PS3 with all the previous PS2 R&C games on it.

They ran very badly on PS3 from the PS2 discs on my backwards compatible machine.

Despite me having the internet and all the information it holds, is this series ps3 only? It could be worth picking up the old ones on the cheap? But i have an Xbox.

Ah k, in that case it must be shit...

just kidding, i love good co op games, especially good if its something that can bridge generations. For those without sons they can play with their cousins/whoever.

the 2 demos are on the store now

just played a quick 15mins on clanks - 'great clock' and its as good as ever.
gorgeous graphics, brilliant script & voice acting and bags of fun.
The puzzles have got loads of potential esp. the duplication ability

I shall have a play on ratchets demo this evening

the demo has rekindled my love for R&C having spent the past 9mths pee'd off at having my TOD save damaged and lost at around 90% of the story completed - I never could be bothered to start all over again but this has got the juices going again

I have to say this game is great fun! I've spent more time playing this than i have uncharted, and that's a big compliment.

I've never played a Rachet and Clank game before but if they're all this good i may have to backtrack. Graphics are superb, voice acting is well done and funny (although it was weird having Tidus become a little cat guy) and the platforming is brilliantly fun. But the coup de grace has to be Clank's time altering little missions, the one in his own mind especially had me scratching my head for a good while.

It seems they've taken bits from all the best platformers of the last decade and put it into one. It's got elements of Braid, Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, Sonic Adventure, Super Mario Galaxy and a ton more. I haven't played a good old platformer this... well good, in years.

I'm on the third system now with Rachet so hopefully i've got a good while left.

It's funny this, bought my PS3 ages ago and had virtually no games for it apart from GTA IV and Burnout, so I started hitting the reviews to see what I should buy for it.

Tools of Destruction was very highly rated, but looked like it was designed for three year-olds... I very nearly didn't bother, but ended up thinking I'd end up with nothing if I didn't try. Was surprised at how good it was, really didn't think I'd take to it but if you get beyond the initial appearance, it's a cracking game with some decent humour and a difficulty curve that fits the purpose brilliantly.

Been really looking forward to giving this a go, been really busy up til now but I'll probably get it in the next couple of days. Sounds like it won't disappoint.

Mine is still in its plastic wrapping, I simply don't have the time. I've only played Uncharted 2 for a few hours in bits here and there.

Maybe try Quest for Booty first? It's cheap enough (PSN only - 4 hour game), but it carries on the story between ToD and this.

Weaste you need to play this, the time altering challenges are great. Like i said i've played it more than Uncharted as i'm just having more old fashioned platforming fun with it.

Yeah I grabbed that and played it about a month ago... was okay, but a bit disappointing. Stealing all of your weapons off you and then giving them back one by one was a bit lame, especially since it could've easily read your save game from the previous one. And obviously being a cheap PSN job it was very short. Having said that, I'm glad I played it because the whole Rusty Pete episode was pretty good, and as you say provides a bit of a bridge.

Apparently Zavvi just shipped it off to me, only £18 so a decent deal I reckon.

Although my girlfriend keeps laughing at me cos she thinks it's designed for 4 year olds :(.

I have never played any of these games, but I'm considering it. Should I pick up 'Tools of Destruction' and 'A Crack in Time?' I love the Mario series, and got a kick out of LBP.

I am a bit worried that they may be aimed more at kids, rather than adults.

Nah, they're epic. I thought the same, but they're easily the best games I've played on the PS3. If you enjoyed LBP then I can't see how you'd fail to like R&C.

Get Tools of Destruction (it'll be really cheap now), then if you like it get the Quest for Booty once you've finished. It's a short game that, a kind of a bridge between the two games.

Then if you've waded your way through both of those, go for A Crack In Time. No point rushing through them though, I'd take your time a bit with them.

 It always makes me chuckle when things like this are said!

The likes of R&C and the Mario games are genius in their design for the whole family, retaining more than enough challenge for us 'hardcore' gamers ;)

Holy crap Weasto! Didnt know you were such a huge fan!

So am I :D !

Wow... Wow... I'm a massive fan as well, absolutely loved this series on the ps2, definately my favorite ps2 game series.

Not long to wait either!

Anyone played All 4 One? Is it worth getting? I heard it wasn't a typical Ratchet & Clank outing, seeing as they had to change to formula to fit with the 4 player co-op thing?

A shame they never went with the original working title: Ratchet & Clank - 4 Play...

Finally got around to pick up the HD Trilogy adaption of the first three. Can't wait to play it when I'm off work for a few days soon!
