Rasmus Elm

Played recently against England, didn't he? Free-kick specialist. Scored one tonight vs Utrecht aswell. That's 8 for him now, all from free-kicks/penalties.

Think he's very highly rated, especially in Sweden. One of three brothers (if I'm not mistaken) who are all professional players. Rasmus is the youngest and best of them. He's no Christian Eriksen though!

In all seriousness I don't see much point in buying him. He's not a significant improvement to what we have from what I've seen and at the age of 23 he's not going to improve that much in the coming years either. I'd rather give our youth a chance than spend money on him.

Followed him when he was playing for Kalmar FF. Back then, he had good energy and a good touch. Still uncertain about his engine and whether it has improved or not.

But as Wowi stated, he won't be any improvement over what we've got now.

Has anyone seen him play?

As I said in the other thread....

Elm isn't even a regular for the National team over here, there's no chance we're in for him at that silly price. It's a crap, lazy article written by a Swedish paper (aftonbladet) about a Swedish player "wanted by a big club". Such a story suits the agent, the paper and the Swedish public

We have much better youngsters than Elm, the only reason to bring him here would be that he as a pretty fecking cool name.

Very good at set pieces and mostly scores screamers. I think moving to AZ and the Eredivisie halted his development a bit, should have signed for Everton when he had the chance. It seems like he's been outstanding so far this season though.

Not sure if United is his level though.

he got 19 for throw ins in FM2012..haha

He's a bit like Delap in that way actually, a long throw specialist.

He's a talented player.. A bit like the bizarro Beckham.. quality set pieces, crosses.. but a ginger with bad skin.

Could be a good squad player I suppose, but don't think he will ever be a quality starter for a club like United.

Like who for an example?

Elm is 23 so (midfielders only)....

Morrison, Anderson, Pogba, Cleverley.

You don't have to have his back because he's Swedish, I live in Sweden and have seen plenty of Elm, he's not as good at the younger lads we already have.

That's not to say he won't be a decent player elsewhere mind.

Absolutely no way United material. I can already give you the full story of his future career. A medium sized english club will come looking after a successful year in Holland. He will be sold for about €4-5m to a team like Fulham, Bolton or Norwich. He will get a handful of chances, and then a new manager will take charge of his club meaning he will be sitting off the rest of the season on the bench (at best). Then he will be picked up by a danish team (Åhlborg) for a net fee of 500k and possible chance of making it to one of those lame "wost foreign buy ever".

In denmark he will be trying to reach the CL by qualifying - something that won't happen and then at age 31 he's being bought by a swedish club with ambitions to win the league - and that is something they will achieve.

:boring::boring::boring::boring:

Ah, I misread it. Thought you meant we (Sweden) had plenty of better young talent.

From what i gathered he s a beckham type of player, good at set-pieces, with the looks of darren fletcher.
I dont think he s good enough for us, unless our scouting staff are convinced that he can improve considerably

That is used way too often, it's like saying Shaun Wright Phillips is a "messi type of player"

Not good enough for United. Could do a job at a club like Villa.

Nah....I never saw Messi sitting on the bench, while SWP spent half of his career warming it..

Yep Spurs have apparently signed him for £6.5m. Not sure if he is a January or summer signing.

He really impressed me for their under 21s. Might be cheeky, if not made up.

He looks like a good player in the making alright and would be ready to fit in straight away when needed! Would really love if we could get our hands on Barkley though in a season or two for the same holding role!

His agent has denied any deal with United already - probably instructed by the club to do so :p

The agent of Swedish ace Rasmus Elm has dismissed reports the midfielder is set to join Manchester United at the end of the season.

Reports in the Italian media this week claimed the 23-year-old AZ Alkmaar star was poised to make a move to Old Trafford in the summer.

But the Sweden international's agent, Patrick Moerk, insists a decision is yet to be made over his future, with Arsenal, Tottenham and a host of Serie A clubs also thought to be interested.

"I don't comment on specific rumours but suggestions he has already agreed to join a club are not correct," Moerk told Expressen.

Elm, who is contracted in Alkmaar until 2013, previously admitted to being flattered by United's alleged interest, fuelling suggestions he could join the Premier League giants.

But while Moerk says the Swede will consider any offers, he has not ruled out the midfielder seeing out his contract with Eredivisie leaders and title challengers AZ.

He added: "Rasmus does not close any doors and he listens to all offers. But he is very happy at AZ and not desperate to move to another club."
