I have just been given a list of slightly older games to review. For this group, I buy the games and they reimburse me. So I buy off ebay and they give me full price for the game.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the following games so I know what to expect -

(All for the 360)

Battlestations Midway
Colin McRae DIRT
Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars.
Universe At War : Earth Assault.

Been mucking about on some of the games today - immediate thoughts -

Battlestations Midway - fecking Dire. Tutorial that teaches you nothing, then throws you into an awfully hard situation. Learning curve of running into a brick wall.

Colin McRae DIRT - Good, I like it so far. Controls are good for a rally game, and pretty easy to play. Saying that, most people end up playing rally games going backwards for the first few laps.

Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. - Essentially a PC game, on the Xbox. Does it work? Suprisingly so! Easy to pick up, great tutorial.

Universe At War : Earth Assault. - Did not arrive today :(

Colin Mcrae Dirt was brilliant, however it wasn't a driving sim, its just an arcade driving game. Fun as hell! But nothing like the previous colin mcrae games

And I had a few top ten times in the world on the pikes peak variants!

The Demo was enoughfor me, really enjoyed it though, going through that demo track with nobraking actually felt like an acheivment. Hard as, though, with a steering wheel.

Was disappointed with DIRT, not what I expected. Apparently Colin McRae is a Rally Driver or something

DIRT has so much potential, good graphics engine, great variety of cars, good career mode system BUT totally let down by the pure easyness of the damn thing. You can get through stages with just minimal braking, and if you do happen to touch the brake it almost completly stops the car. Obviously wasn't going to be a sim but if they had just made the braking realistic it would be playable but im a sim fan and its something I can't live with. Richard Burns Rally and a G25 =

Plus sadly there was no sign of Colin himself in the game at all, all voiced by Travis Pastrana if I remember correctly.

The problem is DiRT was made to break into the US market, apparently the sim rally games wern't doing well because the yanks dont have patience.

Makes sense I guess, but why not call it Travis Pastrana: DiRT or just DiRT, other than McCrae's X games car he wasnt involved. But sims will never be that popular in any country widescale, they take hours to even get half competitive online.

I liked DIRT, only game I have completed fully on the Xbox.

It is a bit easy at time, and can get repetitive mind...
