Rafa Silva

Signing for RW? Only seen him play once and he seemed to favour the left side. Didn't have a great game, his passing was terribly off (50% completion for the game) but he scored a decent goal anyway. Has had a great season by all accounts though.

Read this as Rafael Da Silva and got excited. Now I'm upset.

Yeah I read that. So how is the guy?

@Sly's post in the João Mário thread:

Very good player. It was supposed to be ours as well but we were experiencing financial problems at the time and our new President was just starting his work. Funny you mention him because this week, him and João Mário, were the big highlights of the sports newspapers. They were getting praised by their excellent season and for the fact that they will mostly likely (95% sure) be at the France Euro. Porto tried to buy him in January for 16 million euros but Braga President was asking 20 millions (his release clause). He should move this year. Rafa Silva is an attacking midfielder, very good technically, pacy, who runs with the ball "glued" to his feet due to his superior control. He is very dangerous in transition due to his speed and ability to play one two. But he is also decent against more organized defenses and playing as organizer due to his passing and dribbling ability. He has to work on his finishing and with defining plays in the last third. Something that it's usual on portuguese creative players.

Which other player is he comparable with in terms of playing style.

Does he play mainly on the right or on the left? I have seen statistics claiming he has started almost every game on the left this season but there was a guy in the Right winger thread saying he was mainly a right winger.

I've only seen him play a few times this season and it's been as a floating LWF/AM.

Looks pretty technically gifted. How is his end product?

Cheers, I have only seen him play for 45 minutes when i watched the first half against Benfica on Monday. He played on the left then and scored a nice goal, can't say he did much else of notice in that half so hard to say anything about him only from that brief watch.

Is he quick?

Someone with a good eye for pace let me know, if you said Memphis was quick playing for PSV.. I don't want your opinion.

In the times I've watched him he's reminded me of a Mata with pace, he can produce important moments but disappears for stretches in games.

Sporting will play Braga next weekend, is the last game of the season and only 2 points between Sporting and benfica so Sporting needs to win and hoping for benfica to lose. Joao Mario vs Rafa.
