I was never happy when i heard we were going to sell him, i always thought he had great potential.

His displays in the middle of the park for the last two games have been brilliant, he looks like he's been playing there with scholes for years; good strong tackling, a nice touch, good vision - in a word - class.

Unlike veron, Fortune does plenty of the simple stuff, a quick one touch short pass here and there can be much more valuble than the 'killer' ball that goes nowhere.

I think he has earned himself a place in the team against Arsenal, and i will be quite upset if veron is in and Fortune's out.

Im amazed by his central midfield abilities,
really impressed me and ges well stuck in, loved the way he put Zidanny in his place today.
I hope he re-signs.

Let's hope he keeps Veron out of the team - he deserves to. Great performance today.

He already did ;)

Fortune has been in fantastic form. Nothing spectacular, just good old steady midfield play. Sound defensively and very involved as a link man.

He's the single biggest reason why we're winning without Butt and Keane (Phil N and Scholes also deserving credit for this too of course)

I'm glad he's receiving some praise on here too

He's getting more solid with every game! :D

How could you? You should not critisize anybody?
But really really this idea is stupid, you shold be thrown out of this forum..Scouser ;)

I remember seeing him in that central role a few seasons ago against Bradford and he had a stormer. Always thought that would be his best role. Im glad to say with regular first team footy he seems to be growing more and more in stature every game. Have you noticed how good is first touch & chest control is? first class. keeps it simple and seems to be a bit of an expert in disguising the reverse ball. Building an excellent partnership with Scholes. It would be criminal if he lost his place now to Veron.

He was great today, did everything he needed to impeccably. Made a good few runs aswell.

And made the scouse cnut Danny Murphy shit himself <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

he really fill up the gap in midfield very very well IMO. kept possession well, positive movement towards opponents' goal (unlike phil nev), and gets in a fair bit of tackles too. I would really hope SAF won't restore veron straight into the first team next sat against the arse, though i m quietly sure that is wat he is going to do.

Maybe it has something to do with the new contract? or the fact we have the former South African national coach on the staff?
Fortune has played well for United before of course, understudying Ryan Giggs. But his career at United thus far has largely mirrored that of Jordi Cruyff and it looked like going much the same way.
Interesting to note that Cruyff's best displays for United were all rare central midfield starts when he could get ahead of P. Neville in the pecking order, and the same could be said about Fortune.

The big question of course is, does Fergie stick by Fortune for Saturday's big game or revert to the enigmatic Veron?
Well, I would go with the Argentinian and I think Fergie will too....why?
Because it will be Fergie saying to Veron...there you go Seba...this is one of the reasons we bought you...prove me right!
So if Veron and an in-form Scholes both play who anchors?...after all, we may be at home but we are up against a very attacking yet physically strong side in a season defining game.
It's a dilemma...who will stand up physically to Viera?
I'm not sure, but I think no matter how well Fortune has played against Liverpool you have to look to your big-name players and go on the offensive. We are at home after all. So, well played Quinton but it's Seba and Paul for me, and I think Fergie too.

Seba does, he is an anchor man.
Him and Scholes will be a great combination of the future when Seba learns to mix it a bit better.

Heard an Interview with SAF after the game, said that he would be fielding the same team next week, no reason to make any changes. I would think that Fortune will be a better option to get in there and put some tackles in on Viera and Silva. What we had yesterday was a a total team effort, and Veron just does not fit in to the scheme of things right now.

Since moving infield he's really impressed me. I was undecided over him as a winger but at a CM he looks good

Is Viera suspended for the game against us??
i thought he is?

Time is money...Seba has had a season and a bit to learn the Premiership mix.
I still don't think he has quite got to grips with "derby" style games.
Having said that I hope he plays against the Arse, and I think he'll rise to the occasion, because contrary to opinion he has been playing well so far this season and I think the game against the champions will be more of a football game, which should suit him.
I have too thought his best position may be in front of the back four...time...his oxygen...everything in front of him. It works in theory, but I'm not sure he has the defensive discipline, in fact I'm pretty sure he does not.
No, to succeed Veron ultimately has to cut the Premiership mustard in the middle with the journeyman talents of the likes of Robbie Savage and Danny Murphy et al.
I don't think he will ever quite get to grips with that...hence the disparity between domestic and euro performances.
Fergie has already admitted as much with the observation that both the Arsenal and Liverpool squads are stronger physically...bigger and taller than United right through to youth level.

All sounds very depressing, but Fergie is aware of it. He is already talking about staying on till he is 65, building his 4th great United side and leaving a re-juvenated youth policy for his successor.

But as for now, despite the press Veron is having a decent to good season. We all know he has quality and we certainly won't win the European Cup without him.
He has to play against the Arse and I'm sure he will. Come on Seba, do a Diego and prove Fergie right.

No. The FA decided that the yellow card he got in the Charity shield doesn't count.

oh man, i guess we have to do things the hard way then. :D

if any of you have ever seen him take a free kick - watch out Becks & Seba - he's preety good !! glad to see him getting some praise,a s i've liked him since his debut(anyone remeber that free kick that nearly took the cross bar off !!), the other bonus is he's young, so has a few years in him.....

i like your idea. altho we'll probably need a defensive CM to go with these two which will bring us back to 4-5-1 I think.. if it works out, great!

Altho right now Fortune is clearly outplaying many of our midfielders so he should keep his place for atleast until he dips in form IMO.

Vieira is suspended in this game, so as Campbell

Watching Fortune play in a LFC pub (anfield arms) in Cape Town was weird. We'd boo all the united players except Q and he got some applause when he came off.

Bloody good game he had, I wish Veron started :(

How do you know ? everybody else is saying he isn't...

Vieria isn't suspended. He has 5 yellow cards this season but the FA have decided that the one he got in the charity shield doesn't count.

So what you are saying is take a player that has delivered for the last two games out of the team and replace him with a player that has not delivered at all in the premier league in the hope that he might come good this time?

Sorry but this is bullshit, if Veron had been bought for 0.5 mil from say Bradford, based on his performances to date he would be lucky to be playing for the reserves.

We play Veron on saturday we will lose, plain and simple.

Fortune has been great the last few games. Of course he is no Keane but then who is. He is good enough against the best and reminds me of Butt last season even tho they are not exactly alike.

Why should Fortune miss out if Seba plays, Butt and Keane never did.
