We have our PS3 hooked up by HDMI to the tv.

A couple of times in the last couple of weeks, it suddenly switches from the PS3 channel(HDMI 3) to the tv channel mid game, without us pressing anything.

We have used two cables, and it has happened on both.

Anyone know why?

I love these questions, as there could be tens of different reasons.

It's possible that the PS3 HDMI out could be having a funny, and it's also possible that the TV is having a funny. I'd suggest that in your TVs settings, you turn off the automatic input switching. Then see if the PS3 output flickers now and then.

Cheers Weaste.

I couldn't find any 'Auto Switching' option on my tv (Bravia 40W4500). Do all tvs have them (ie am I blind enough not to be able to see it) or might mine not?

Thanks again.

Just did it there.

It's only happened a couple of times since we connected to this tv, so if it happens again I'll report back.

Cheers, Weaste.

It could be that yes. Even my old Sony WEGA would switch when it didn't detect the signal on one input, and would go to the next priority input. Also, the other way around, if you were for example watching a DVD on SCART 2, and turned on the satellite box connected to SCART 1, it would switch, as SCART 1 was the higher priority input. There was however an option in the settings to turn this auto-switching off.

i had a similar problem, the ps3 channel would switch not to the sky but to an extension that wasn't even in use. i rang the guy up who set everything up and wall mounted the 42" samsung for us. he advised me to change the HDMI cables round. 1 to 2, 2-1. so i did. haven't had a bit of trouble since
