We have a quick reply and it's only logical that we have an ajax based quick edit (useful when you misspell one word or realize you have a tiny grammatical error).

I suppose it could take some load off the server as well.

Ajax has script overheads, no idea if it's worth it or not though.

The editing box expands under the post as you press the button, instead of having to load another page.

Does Niall actually have control over the script / the motivation to change it? I presumed vBulletin just came pre-packaged and you got what you were given?

Yes. It's an option in the admin panel.
