Would it be somehow possible to have a private sub-forum in the Manchester United forum?

In the wake of these protests some of the organisation needs to be kept secret to avoid any possibility of it being foiled.

It could be greatly used for other purposes as well, like organising wind ups for the press to "catch on" etc.

You're just using the theme as an excuse to play some old classics from the gayties...

It is possible, but highly unlikely, and it depends on what you mean as private. Accessible only to those that can post in the main forums, or accessible to people of your choosing?

You can easily go and set up your own private forum for free and invite who you want to invite.

you would need to PM Niall and ask

Otherwise its a no from Admin

Although we all have all our own feelings on the subject of the ownership, we dont want to be in the position where potentially a protest turns violenct and it gets back that it was organised via Redcafe. I hope you understand the position this would put us in.

BTW lads, this is NOT the general forum so those talking about music etc take it elsewhere before i remove your posting rights to every forum apart from the CE

 That would be quite amusing.

As Weaste said, wouldn't it be easier just to set up your own forum and make it private?

The purpose isn't just about the protests. It's to organise things en-mass in general.

It's easier than circulating PM's as you can't PM thousands of people. It's far less likely to get back as being organised from RedCafe if something happenes as it will be private on the contrary of now being public and anyone able to read any organisation of anything.

EDIT: Unless what you're saying is not discussing those things on here at all?

Maybe, but the point remains

Unless Niall says otherwise, we will not be creating a seperate sub-forum for it.

We will monitor and moderate the threads as normal in the usual forums. IF anything gets out of hand then we will step in.

I'll take an example gb.

Let's say George is organising a form of protest against the Glazers by turning the whole stand green and gold. Lets say the stewards pick up on it and don't allow George to take the materials needed inside the ground and therefore foil his plan. George who is pissed gets in a tuffle with them and this leads to more people getting involved and it becoming a riot and bla bla bla.

He organised this publicly via the RedCafe (and other sources of course, he just got help with some funding)

Second scenario is the privacy where George is able to take all materials inside and manages to turn the stand green and gold and the stewards don't know what this is about so frankly they don't care.

The private forum can and should also be monitored as the normal one with the mods and admins stepping in when things get out of line. It's just a helping hand of adding "the element of surprise" to any form of protest.

Let me put it another way

You might start it with good intentions but sooner or later, the idea will be hijacked from those with different agenda's

That's where you step in. It's no different from the normal forum apart from the privacy from the outside world.

Im not sure how many more ways I have to say "No"

Non
Niet
Nien
Nie
Nee

Weastes suggestion would probably be best

If we get a bit... visibly anti Glazer (orchestrating and scheming) would we not possibly be hit with some kind of notice from the club? (given that we're one of the bigger United forums)

I doubt it since we are not an official forum. However, we do have a good reputation to protect for being an open forum board the encourages debate from various sources.

Well ok. I'm making a suggestion and personally don't see what's wrong with the idea, but if you're the one that decides it, that's fine.

I don't see the suggestions of making a new forum as appropriate, because this is a decent place with a very large number of members where anything would be better organised. I'm sure no one would stop anyone from discussing United problems and organising "events" on how to go about them. Unless they are of radical sort which would involve unlawful activity.

The new forum idea is good, Just set up something like RR but for the anti-glazer people, choose who you want to discuss things and send them a PM with the details. Just the same as a private subforum really apart from its got nout to do with redcafe and it means another registration process

Quite, I created the place and don't have one.

 thats briiliant :D

Apparently you need to meet them pre match for a pre-match piss up. I've met them at an away game and didnt get one

:p

But yeah AAO, I reccomend you setting up a private forum :)

Did you not see the part where GB promised to lock you in here?

Againstallodds has asked his question, and he has recieved his answer.

The best thing to do would be to set up an email list for anyone interested in participating. That would you as its admin could allow whoever you want access and deny it to anyone you shouldn't see it. Or as Weaste suggested, create a free forum and regulate who you allow in.
